Rain that falls on your property. Snow that melts on your land.

Everyone is already privatizing the watershed. Every kid who looks up and opens his mouth is stealing a few drops of water from the state of Oregon.
We are talking about one of the wettest states around. It is amazing that they have a years-long epidemic of smash and grab property theft but are more concerned with infringing on the rights of property owners.
Oregon would be a good state to pack the f up and move out of.

@JakeCan72 Yes because this is how water works. It falls more in places with orographic lift, and then makes it to larger reservoirs through a finite number of watersheds which supply an entire region.
If you let someone privatize a watershed, they can hold the entire region hostage.

Iran was once the world’s leading pistachio producer. Today, USDA data show the U.S., led by California, accounts for roughly 65% of global output, while Iran’s share has fallen to about 18%.
In the first week of the war, reports and geolocated satellite imagery indicated strikes in and around Rafsanjan, the heart of Iran’s pistachio sector, including apparent damage to pistachio warehouse facilities near the airport.
The Resnick family, owners of The Wonderful Company and dominant players in California’s pistachio industry, have used political influence to secure vast water rights in drought-stricken regions, at the expense of local communities.
The 2025 documentary Pistachio Wars examines their longstanding backing of pro-Israel lobbying groups, arguing that hawkish policies toward Iran align with their commercial interests, as weakening a key global competitor benefits their bottom line.

It's going to be something to watch what Japan does here. Look the other way as their currency goes to zero while their bond market implodes and stocks blow off? Or intervene to prevent a future inflation problem? My bet is on the latter. Oil is +10% in Yen already YTD.

He ejected wounded, climbed a mountain ridge, wedged himself into a rock crevice, and radioed three words: "God is good." Washington wasn't sure it was real. Officials initially suspected an Iranian trap and scrambled to verify he was alive. For 48 hours, Iranian forces, IRGC units, Basij militias, and civilian volunteers hunted him with helicopters and drones while a provincial governor offered bounties. The WSO could hear them getting closer. The rescue involved 100+ special operators, four B-1 bombers dropping nearly 100 two-thousand-pound bombs, MQ-9 Reapers striking fighters approaching within kilometers of his position, and a CIA deception operation that spread false intel inside Iran claiming the pilot had already been found and was being moved overland. The first rescue attempt failed. Two helicopters took fire, crews wounded, forced to land in Kuwait. Two MC-130Js landed at a makeshift base inside Iran and got stuck in the sand. Commanders flew in three smaller replacement aircraft, extracted everyone, and destroyed $200M+ worth of aircraft and helicopters on the ground. Satellite images show about 28 craters blasted into roads in Iran’s Esfahan province near where a downed US airman was rescued.
The craters, each about 9 meters wide, appear placed in a line to deliberately cut off road access.
They’re located roughly 20 km from a remote airstrip where US forces destroyed their damaged aircraft.
The strikes were likely carried out to block Iranian forces from reaching the area during the rescue operation.

BREAKING: It has now been determined that the MC-130J and HC-130J aircraft involved in the combat search and rescue operation of the second downed crew member from a U.S. Air Force F-15E of the 494th Fighter Squadron in Isfahan Province, Iran, were flown from Ovda Airbase in Israel. These aircraft had moved to Ovda from Elefsis Airbase in Greece just a few days before the operation. Satellite imagery shows they are currently positioned on a sandy ramp, not on paved taxiways or concrete or asphalt ramps at the base.
