Cathode Ray Tube glows with a soft, ethereal light, a relic from when technology felt tangible and alive. As an art object, it holds a mystique, its curves and lines a testament to the analog era—a connection to the past. link▼

Foundation is the hot topic! A good reason to write long form again after quite some time 😅 First of all, everyone can relax - Foundation is still functioning, haha. The pivot to Rodeo and the decision to just maintain the platform has been visible for months now. I want to take a moment to thank the Foundation team for bringing early innovations and ideas to the scene. They introduced a fun and great user experience, their own smart contracts, a decentralized curation model, and many other things that were brilliant at the time. And they always delivered it exceptionally well. I’ve always been a big fan of Foundation. The energy on the platform was great, and I collected so much art, supporting over 500 individual artists. I'll always be grateful to them for sparking my interest in art. However, when the multi year bear market hit hard and AI-generated images flooded the platform, it exposed some flaws in their approach to building a sustainable platform, in my opinion. So, what went wrong? Foundation always aimed to capture attention and volume with big releases and innovative products, but they seemed to overlook the smaller, important details. They grew too fast in the hype, which became hard to maintain. One area where they consistently fell short was in making it easy and fun for collectors to use the platform. They didn’t provide enough incentives for collectors to engage with their platform beyond buying new drops, which can quickly become boring. Collectors want to find hidden gems from 2021, browse and filter through their own collection, and search what’s for sale in respected collectors’ collections. Simple stuff like that. That’s why I love objkt: the user experience makes it easy to explore my collection and also rediscover early minted pieces, within different mediums etc. Another crucial aspect in web3 is making the community feel heard and valued. objkt does this well: their small, hardworking team involves as many artists as possible in daily curations and spotlights - they’re passionate about art and it shows. In my opinion, Foundation never paid enough attention to these community details. They didn’t need to during the bull market, but it became a problem later. When Rob joined Foundation, I thought they were heading in the right direction. People felt motivated to use the platform again, but the numbers probably didn’t reflect this change enough, again showing that they grew too big too fast in the bull and this was still affecting them. They were on the right path, focusing on community inclusion and care, but it didn’t prove profitable enough. I genuinely wish them the best with Rodeo, and I hope they continue maintaining Foundation and the shared contract to keep the pieces secure. Maybe if another bull market comes, they’ll have the funds to revive the platform - that would be my dream. As for Rodeo, it’s not for me. It’s focused on amassing and accumulating, which I already went through during the bull market with more expensive art, and it brought more problems than benefits. Now, I want to collect consciously and thoughtfully. We’re just on different paths for now, but I’ll always be grateful to Foundation for everything.

Gm🚗 - Happy Monday friends, feels like a great week ahead! I was looking through some photos from my recent trip and came across these two near one another in my camera roll… which is interesting because they were taken in different cities on different days. I suppose they were probably sent to me at the same time. I’m curious how you relate to the following reflections? How do they show up in your life? What are you experiencing now? As I consider each shot I can’t help but think about the difference between being in the driver’s seat and being a passenger. At different times, with different contexts, each has its rightful place in life. I think most of us would agree we’d like to be in the driver’s seat when it comes to controlling aspects of our life like career trajectory, health, financial stability, etc. In general, the concept of being in the driver’s seat for our life feels empowering and epitomizes taking responsibility for ourselves, a practice through which we derive much power. On the other hand, in the context of the previous statements, being a passenger may seem up front to be negative. We don’t often wish to have other people making the most important life decisions for us after all. But when considered in a different light, being a passenger can be equally desirable. For instance, space is held for the blissful nature of a healthy early childhood by good parents taking care of the concerns of a young human. Also, learning how to allow the flow of life to carry us into the unknown with trust in a greater power can be empowering and freeing. Surrendering to the mystery of adventure may bring about our greatest experiences. - ≷ The mellow rays of the setting sun rivaled now by the tone of her form, silhouettes curve and collect all as the flashing grains of sand count the days turned shrouded night. ≷ Reflections of light, shown twice in the dark night of tide’s mirrored reach sitting red atop the setting hues of Devana’s autumnal throne, drawing closer and closer to the ever verdant dawn.
