In our latest Member Testimonial, FSU Campaigns Officer @MaxHThompson visited Dr Ace North in Oxford. For nearly 15 years, Ace was a research biologist in the University of Oxford’s Biology Department. When material promoting gender ideology began appearing on the department’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) board and in staff break rooms, Ace felt it was inappropriate for a biology department — and decided to challenge it. He placed stickers featuring quotes from prominent gender-critical figures to question the prevailing narrative. Senior staff responded by condemning the stickers and warning of severe disciplinary action. Months later, Ace was called in by senior administration after being linked to them. The Free Speech Union was proud to support Ace throughout. Around 40% of our casework involves individuals penalised for holding lawful gender-critical beliefs — protected under the Equality Act 2010.
