before i let myself take a gap year, i decided i needed to speed run the college experience. this past semester: i was a full time student while working 30+ hrs a week at xAI, while pledging a frat, while being in 2 clubs, while skydiving on weekends for my license. was fun!

ANNOUNCING: build future x codex: live from the future @buildfutureto x @OpenAIDevs x @TOtechweek we're taking over the most iconic theatre in canada. scotiabank theatre. the big screen we used to dream of as kids. live demos. may 25, 6pm. most people haven't seen what the top 1% of builders are doing with codex. this night is for real demos and real builds. the room is engineers, founders, and operators shipping at the edge. space is limited. if you’re looking for engineers on the bleeding edge, this is the room. thank you @shopify for securing the spot! if you're a starting hiring, dm me

@jedgar I’ve been running hackathons at UBC for 4 years now and it feels SO difficult… We have nice decks, partnership packages, etc but it’s so hard to fine a Canadian branch of a company that wants to sponsor anything, or anyone to come from the south (unless ur htn)

Canadian hackathons are so bad at the sponsorship thing. Plz get it together. I've spent well over 5 mill sponsoring hackathons in my life and the Americans are so good at putting a deck together and making sure it's linked on the website web, easy to understand etc. In Canada you get a random ass dm with "trust me bro sponsor this" or an email address on the website. You'd get $50k cheques if you actually spent 15 minutes putting a sponsorship pdf together with details on the event and metrics etc.

Happy 5/5! 🎊 I’m Jay, a student builder in Vancouver and a Codex Ambassador! I use Codex every day for a wide range of work: - @UBCBizTech building a partnerships CRM in a day because we couldn’t afford Attio - running automations, cleaning up meeting minutes, prepping outreach(!!!), writing docs, and planning events - Building projects to run ML/RL! I also run a lot of events for students, and a big part of what I care about is bringing the frontier of tech closer to Vancouver. I’m heading to @OpenAI this summer to work on Codex + ChatGPT as an intern, and when I’m back in the fall I’m planning to run a lot more Codex events here! If you’re building with Codex, curious about coding agents, or want to help support students / the tech community in Vancouver, say hi :D @OpenAIDevs @gabrielchua @reach_vb

"Write everything down" is terrible advice on its own  capture isn't the problem. nobody's life has ever been saved by a note they wrote and never looked at again. the bottleneck is resurfacing the right thing at the right moment. writing stuff down without solving resurfacing just moves the forgetting into a different folder
