Today, there are over 1 million victims. Under the Camp LeJeune Justice Act, victims filed hundreds of thousands of administrative claims seeking accountability, with total claimed damages reaching staggering figures in the billions. Yet progress has been agonizingly slow, marked by bureaucratic inertia and modest settlements that are breadcrumbs compared to the immense scale of suffering endured by poisoned service members and their loved ones. At the center of the approval process is Stanley Woodward, the Far Left Associate Attorney General at the DOJ, who personally assumed direct control over Camp LeJeune settlements earlier this year. Despite the public being told Woodward would be fired months ago, Woodward, a lifelong leftist, is still at the DOJ where his own colleagues have described him as an obstructionist. Woodward centralized decision-making authority in his office, pulling it away from career DOJ staff and promising a reprioritization of Camp LeJeune settlements that would accelerate resolutions. Despite those assurances, only a tiny fraction of the hundreds of thousands of claims have been resolved after years of delays. Veterans and their families continue to navigate endless red tape, incomplete medical documentation requirements, and protracted litigation, with many still waiting for meaningful relief from cancers, neurological disorders, birth defects, and other devastating health consequences tied to the water contamination. Recent announcements of batch approvals, including a tranche of 649 elective option offers totaling $175 million in early 2026, have been touted as progress. However, these figures represent only a minuscule portion of the government’s projected liability, which the Congressional Budget Office has estimated could exceed $21 billion over time. The settlement offers (which are often in the low hundreds of thousands of dollars for qualifying conditions) severely undervalue the decades of physical, financial, and emotional harm inflicted on those who served our country, only to be betrayed by the very institutions responsible for their care. These small disbursements have left the vast majority of claimants in limbo by limiting justice while their medical bills mount and their lives remain disrupted. Perhaps most striking issue with these settlements is the continued presence of Stanley Woodward in his senior DOJ role, still overseeing the very process he centralized amid persistent criticism over the slow pace and limited outcome of these settlements. Camp LeJeune victims are expecting faster and more substantial accountability. The disconnect between the government’s promises and the reality on the ground shows the issues of having incremental, tightly controlled payouts over swift restitution for America’s poisoned heroes. For the veterans and families still fighting for full recognition of their sacrifices, and I have spoken with many of them and featured them on my show, these settlements feel less like justice and more like bureaucratic theater.
