One of the consequences of marrying a very smart man means that you get very smart toddlers whose levels of mischief are unfathomable. For example my 2yo has hidden the comb somewhere ingenious so that I can’t comb her hair today 🙃

I had a single drive failure and lost some irreplaceable stuff. So when I rebuilt I went too far. Used ZFS and set up a pool of mirrored, RAIDZ1 drives and do a weekly zfs send to backup on separate drives. I now have faster read performance for my read-heavy services (mirroring), redundancy in case of single drive failures (RAIDZ1), and backups in case of anything crazy. It would take 3 drive failures on 2 separate machines before I lose data now. The paranoia is real but I can rest easy with this setup

I don’t see the point of RAID in a homelab. Feels like wasting disks. Why mirror drives when backups exist? No uptime pressure in a homelab setup. So what’s the real benefit here? Curious to hear your views from real homelab experiences 👇

@acottagemouse *Laughs in 3 boys* The older 2 each went through a nudist phase where the only rule we could actually enforce was “no going outside without at least undies on” 😂 3rd hasn’t quite hit that phase yet but it’s only a matter of time

Has anyone else dealt with a toddler/2 year old who is just constantly stripping down to their birthday suit? She’s potty training now because she keeps taking her diaper off, but I’m so tired fighting to get and keep any clothes on her 😩

Kids were listening to baby shark on repeat. I needed a break so I showed them “Barbie Girl” by Aqua. Not sure if this is an improvement or not

My toddler took off running toward the parking lot, shouting “I’M NOT BEING SAFE” and it made me laugh so hard that it took me a second to realize he was right

I love how seriously toddlers are about their names. One minute you’re playing silly and will say something like “you’re an explorer!” Then they turn completely serious and will say, “no daddy. I’m Jeff.” Like “oh yes sir. Sorry sir. Won’t happen again” 😂

@fountaingirll Our youngest just started crawling ~1 week ago and in the last day or so he’s got the skills/confidence to start exploring. It’s so fun watching him go discover “new” places

It’s actually so crazy to watch your baby just start walking around the house going from room to room. Like where are you going walking down the hallway
