Gas here in SW Pennsylvania is now at $4.19. I haven’t seen it that high since Obama. So if “we don’t even need Iranian oil” as Trump stated the other night. And we’re producing “more gas than Russia and Saudi Arabia combined” Then why aren’t we using our “millions of barrels” of oil sitting in storage? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I wonder if they can take a picture of that American flag that is on the moon? I mean hell they can see the Earth. I’m pretty sure they could zoom in on that flag. Or maybe the space buggy or anything else that was left behind

I’m always amazed at what people will do for something free. Years ago I marveled at the few hundred people willing to stand in the sun on blacktop on a 95 degree day for a free ice cream cone. This morning I passed people in a car line for a free cup of coffee at some new place. The car at the end has a 40 minute wait with gasoline at nearly four bucks a gallon. Can someone explain this phenomenon?

@yamihere333 @GeriPerna Did all those things. Point was, you should not have to share expenses in order to have a comfortable life. Our dollar is worthless. Most people in America work one hour for the equivalent of their lunch value meal - $15. That's not sustainable.

@mooptie @GeriPerna 67 was barely passed the Cuban missile crisis. That was nearly 60 years ago. That is ancient history now. We are further away from that year than people living then were from the Titanic sinking. Just don't live on one income. Get a roommate, eventually a spouse hopefully.

When I worked at Macy's back in the 80's, people who worked there raised families on what they made. It was their career. I remember the guy in electronics retired after 30 years, and my boss in the cash office did the same. The guys who worked in the suit department did very well for themselves. Despite that, the store profited greatly every year, and we were given a beautiful Christmas party in appreciation. What changed in this country? When did it become nearly impossible to support oneself at a job that didn't require a degree or technical school?

@jnottah Yes, the cop messed up trying to remove the holster with the gun in it, but the suspect also messed up having a round in the chamber and the safety off.

During a traffic stop, a man is frisked and a female officer notices a concealed firearm strapped to the mans waist, on attempting to remove the firearm, she causes the weapon to discharge striking the man in the thigh, the female officer seems in shock and doesn't say anything to the man, however the Sergeant who's with her apologies several times. Do you think it's a lack of her training and experience that caused this incident ? I am surprised she didn't utter an apology, she did look extremely confused.

I dine out so infrequently and only on very special occasions. It occurred to me why am I tipping based on MY celebrations?? They are hired to do a job. I tip based on time spent and the prevailing hourly wage for said skills. Attentiveness above and beyond gets them an appropriate bonus. Tipping on the bill as a % is so stupid.

American restaurants are legally allowed to pay servers $2.13/hour. In Japan, tipping is rude. In Australia, servers make $24/hour before tips. In Denmark, $25/hour with full benefits. In those countries, a server handwriting a demand for more money on a receipt would be absurd. The restaurant already paid them. In America, the restaurant doesn't. So 20% from the customer fills the gap. That's the system. Leaving less means the server worked your table for two dollars an hour. This receipt is what that looks like in practice. $525 check. The restaurant collected every dollar. Printed "gratuity: $0.00" on the bill. Paid the server $2.13/hour. Then left the building. The customer left $60 in cash. That's 11%. The server handwrote a note: "I was expecting more like $120. Thanks." The note looks entitled until you do the math. At $2.13/hour, a four-hour dinner shift pays the server $8.52 from the restaurant. The difference between a $60 tip and a $120 tip is the difference between $17/hour and $32/hour for skilled service on a $525 tab. Everyone is arguing about the server's attitude. Nobody is asking why a business that just collected $525 is paying its worker two dollars. The server and the customer are fighting over who covers payroll. The restaurant owner is nowhere in the conversation. Already won.
