Tomorrow's episode: Co-creator of Kubernetes sharing the story behind getting buy-in at Google to open source it, building the early prototypes, and the hardest technical challenges in building it.
His story is a great example of a bottoms-up initiative that came from engineers who were eager to build something great.
A lot of people see stories like this one and wonder how you could do something like that when you have existing project responsibilities. So I asked him about that too.
He had an interesting answer about how you should hide some amount of your bandwidth from management. This enables you to take initiative when you see opportunities outside of your current responsibilities.
He gives more context in the conversation, launching tomorrow.
