Keep pushing further into tradition, conservativism, and most painfully of all, some level of centralization. There is a wide open opportunity for the LCMS here. Many evangelicals who want more tradition look at the mainlines and often opt for Rome or EO instead due to liberalism. We're confessional and that is important, but we're also very decentralized which makes for great inconsistency. There is both a somewhat traditional LCMS church in my town and a LCMS church that does exclusively contemporary worship music, no vestments etc. This inconsistency is a big problem for the LCMS in my opinion. So while centralization is dangerous, it also may be the only way to seriously compete with the consistency that the Rome/EO has.

Another rather curious fact about LCMS: if you push evangelical style on her, there is unrest and pushback. If you simply support her traditional liturgy, she tends to be boringly peaceful overall. Weโ€™ve just come thru years of peace, now whatโ€™s next?

THE WOKE ICONOCLASTS ARE RIOTING IN WITTENBERG! They are destroying our beautiful churches, smashing the gorgeous altars, and breaking the windows. Total thugs! Kooky Karlstadtโ€”who is a very weak and highly unstable person, many people are saying thisโ€”has completely lost it!

According to data from the US Census, nearly all of Roman Catholicism's growth in the US since 1970 can be attributed to mass Hispanic migration. In 1970, the US was 65% Protestant. Today, that figure is down to 40%, in part driven by migration.

@based_white_boy A very important point. What needs to be done will take risk, but have great reward. However, we should also be patient and wait until the boomers are gone as you say.

An important thing to keep in mind in the LCMS Bishop discussion is that, while the LCMS should adopt an episcopal polity, the timing is crucial. We absolutely do not want to give that type of power to our current synod leadership (especially not the Biermann wing). The name change of District President to Bishop is a perfect step for now, and we should wait to pursue full episcopacy until after the demographic crash. When Zoomer patriots are in control, then we can give them episcopal powers.

Functionally the LCMS has bishops and dioceses, they're simply referred to by secular titles (president, district). The LCMS only adopted those titles in order to appear more Protestant since those are the titles the other Protestant churches use. It's time to embrace tradition.
The Luther Inn@TheLuthInn

An LCMS overture to rename secular titles of district presidents and Synod president to bishop was struck down by the LCMS Floor Committee, preventing it from coming to a convention vote. Notably, the proposal appears to have greater support among younger members of the LCMS.

#OTD June 16, 1539: During an ordination exam in Wittenberg, Martin Luther was confronted with the claim: โ€œFaith justifies; faith is a work; therefore works justify.โ€ He responded: โ€œFaith justifies not as a work, nor as a quality, nor as knowledge, but as assent of the will and firm confidence in the mercy of God. For if faith were only knowledge, then the devil would certainly be savedโ€ฆ Accordingly faith must be understood otherwise than as knowledge. In part, however, it is assent.โ€ Luther, Table Talk No. 4655 (June 16, 1539), LW 54:359โ€“360

If there's no substantial difference between the offices, then the issue is trivial. If there's a difference, then that implies an ecclesial overhaul, not a change in terminology. If you are Lutheran, then you ought comfortable with the presidential arrangement as legitimate.

@lymanstoneky They didn't say the proposal *does*; they said the proposal *appears.* This is likely just based on the general feeling and demand for traditionalism among especially young men, both in the LCMS and Christianity at large.

Unfortunate that there was pushback against using a term with biblical and historic precedent (Bishop) versus something wholly corporate and American (President) Especially since we are in communion with Lutheran bodies around the world led by Bishops or Archbishops

Very unfortunate. Our Confessions are not silent on the issue of polity. They make it very clear the historic practices are to be retained. Side note: based statue of St. Albert of Riga.

Oh I know you werenโ€™t talking to me just wanted to chime in. I agree with you on pretty much everything you said here. I also think remigration is a necessity as being born here doesnโ€™t make you not a foreigner in my book. Also in terms of of Protestantism being brown I was mainly talking about the US where Protestantism is far more White specifically Lutheranism as compared to Catholicism.

@nolibertarians @Sini666terChvd @JohnofStafford No not you, I was talking to the larper. But Iโ€™m against mass migration even if itโ€™s legal and obviously I believe you should love and care for your family more than a stranger in a foreign country. The point about Protestantism being brown af still stands for you though.

To chime in, there are and many (though not all) will likely be saved. However, temporally that doesnโ€™t mean I want to live around them or share a society with them. I do not hate them, I love then and hope they are save, but I also must practice ordered love. My love for my kin persuades me to protect what has been built for us.

@Sini666terChvd @JohnofStafford @nolibertarians Idk why youโ€™re acting like there arenโ€™t hundreds of millions of Protestants in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Also idk what behavior you personally deem bad enough to separate yourself from God but Its pretty clear hating anyone is one of them.
