This LCMS/AALC drama is goofy, and it’s frankly ridiculous that the AALC is an autonomous church body in the first place, this isn’t 1800s America anymore, we should strive for nation-wide Lutheran unity both doctrinally and, yes, institutionally.

The biggest problem with conservatives is their tendency to retreat and leave institutions rather than resist and reform them. Redeemed Zoomer is very correct about this. Liberals have a desire to impress their ideas upon the world that conservatives lack, and need to retrieve.

@prosandhans @AmerRef1517 We need to stop letting fear of what other institutions have done hinder us from organizing effectively. Autonomous bodies with a “common mission” only ever ends in separation, because loyalty is always split when things get hard, and separation is easier than fixing issues.

@based_white_boy If the boomers don’t do it we have time on our side. I don’t think that young people in confessional Lutheran bodies have the same sort of aversion to institutionalism. After all, the Gen Z “revival” has been mostly a move towards institutionalist churches.

@nolibertarians Exactly, Lutherans need to kick this fear of institutionalism and simply do the work required to create and maintain a conservative and confessional national church. Sure it’ll be difficult, but anything worth doing is going to be difficult. Time to nut-up and get to work!

I’m going to say something out loud that will help make sense of things in Virginia. Spanberger is planning primaries to all of Senate leadership. They are looking at candidates against Lucas, Deeds, Locke and Surovell. Everything else makes sense if you see what’s coming.

Thomas Massie has a bad record on immigration and I don't support him for that reason.
But there's someone who has a worse record and he is running for Governor of Ohio with the Trump endorsement.
Trump's endorsements were a major weak spot of his first admin.

Is it the exception? The two major confessional Lutheran groups in the US (LCMS and WELS) have about 2.3 million members combined. The ELCA has 2.6 million. By the mid 2030s the LCMS on its own is set to have more members than the ELCA. Will you still call it the “exception” then?
