@PropagandaNexus @NikTek When the water is the main character it better be that good.

@itspsychosa I appreciate you want an immense grind, but not everyone streams all day. They need to consider 99% of players in addition to that rare 1% that can devote 8hrs a day.
Im not saying make it easy. I don't believe everyone should be able to do it, but its a balancing act.

@TheKevinDalton @davishouz Its also been found as a large deposit of a rare mineral used in batteries and is about to get mined. He's just trying to put himself in a position to now fight corporations over it.
He's not trying to preserve anything.
English

@davishouz But it’s way more expensive to re-create the catastrophe all over again

@ThoughtCrimes80 @chad_lanyon Its not a border checkpoint. They have them in border states along the highways. It takes 2 seconds to drive up, answer their question and go.
English

@chad_lanyon It’s an international border checkpoint. It’s a simple “yes or no,” not a rectal exam.
Of course you can say no, but if you’re a citizen, why would you make it harder for yourself?

@dom_lucre If this is true that highly disappointing. Stop trying to wedge everything to a single narrative. It will be such a boring world.

🔥🚨DEVELOPING: This is currently a massive divide between Conservative and Liberal fans of the new Mario Galaxy Movie. It is being reported that most Democrats dislike the movie while majority of Republicans have been seen praising it.
Fan: “The real reason why the Super Mario Galaxy movie has negative reviews:
The protagonist is a man.
There are no black people.
There are no homosexuals.
The main romance is heterosexual.
If your movie meets these precepts, it will be destroyed by the press.”

@anishmoonka Disney has entered and bailed on games 3 or more times. This would be terrible.

Disney paid $7 billion for Pixar, $4 billion for Marvel, $4 billion for Star Wars, and $71 billion for 21st Century Fox. The executive who personally closed all four of those deals just went on CNBC and said Disney's next buy should be Epic Games, the company that makes Fortnite.
His name is Kevin Mayer. He ran Disney's deal-making for over a decade. The resume speaks for itself.
He's not alone. Tech reporter Alex Heath said on The Town podcast that he knows "for a fact" senior people inside Disney want to buy Epic and are waiting for the right moment. Other Disney executives apparently think it's a terrible idea.
Look at the timing, though. Epic just cut over 1,000 jobs on March 24. That's roughly 20% of the company, gone in a single memo. CEO Tim Sweeney told staff they're "spending significantly more than we're making" because Fortnite has been losing players since 2025. Tracking firm Circana found the average Fortnite player on PlayStation went from 21 hours a month to 16 in just one year.
Disney already put $1.5 billion into Epic back in February 2024, buying roughly 7% of the company when it was valued at $22.5 billion. That valuation was already down from $31.5 billion two years earlier. I ran the numbers on a full buyout: it would cost about 13% of Disney's market value today ($167 billion). Disney paid $4 billion for Marvel in 2009. Marvel's movies alone have grossed over $30 billion worldwide since then.
Disney actually tried to buy EA (Madden, FIFA) in 2023. Didn't happen. EA is now being sold to a Saudi-backed group for $55 billion. That ship sailed. Epic, with Fortnite bringing in an estimated $5 to $6 billion a year and its software (called Unreal Engine) already running 15+ Disney theme park rides and games like Kingdom Hearts 3, probably makes more sense for Disney anyway.
The problem is one person. Tim Sweeney founded Epic in 1991 and still controls the majority of votes despite owning only about 41% of the company. He can block any deal he wants, and he's been pretty clear about wanting to stay independent. Tencent, the Chinese tech giant, owns another 40%, which means the U.S. government would have to review the deal due to the Chinese ownership stake. That alone could drag on for years.
Disney has tried making its own games. It went badly. They built an in-house studio and made a game called Disney Infinity, which actually sold well for a while. Then the economics fell apart, and Disney shut the whole thing down in 2016. Three hundred people lost their jobs. Between 2008 and 2012, their gaming division burned through over $200 million a year. If Disney wants to get into gaming on a real scale, buying is the only option. And Epic is having its worst financial stretch in years.

@MugenLord The problem is they don't feel they need to. Back then, we faced REAL hardware limits. We had been forced to address it.
Today, they rely on high end machines to carry the weight.

Bro, as someone who was gaming in the 90's, I had no idea that Crash Bandicoot was nearly impossible to run on the PS1. The developers found a way to get around the PS1 limitations, and the way they did it was sick!
This is what optimization looks like, and somehow, most modern game developers can't seem to pull it off.

@grok if the government is able to stop say just 40% of the alleged fraud and abuse taking place in our social services within the United States, how much would we save per year in tax dollars?
Don't make this politically determined, treat it all equally.
English

@ExoGhost One thing that stands out is the distance of engagement. Its pike 50 to 75 feet in this clip. Where the more modern, everyone is 10ft from each other sliding through small rooms.

@JakeSucky 100%. I have a very eclectic game collection on steam for this reason lol.

@thegameawards Single player mmo with a control scheme that is unnecessarily complex
English

@CAgovernor @JenSiebelNewsom So teaching them to leave the state. Smart
English

@JakeSucky Please stop with casual vs hard-core being about time spent.
Hard-core and casual are a reflection of game taste.
Part time or full time is what your referring to.
A hard-core part time player will be just fine. They don't need to live on the game like a content creator.
