Son is displaying some pretty severe ADHD behavior along with his sensory processing stuff. Pediatrician gave me an evaluation to fill out. Nurse called me back today. Here’s how the convo went. Nurse (super nice): so Dr said it does look like he’s showing some early signs of ADHD. Dr wants to repeat the evaluation in November after he starts school so the teacher can get to know him and fill out the eval. Me: okay and what if we’re homeschooling? Nurse (super rude): uh. IS that what you’re doing? Me: yeah that’s why I said that Nurse (even more rude): okay well if that’s the case then this (the ADHD) doesn’t even matter Me: ……. Like what the heck?? Does ADHD only affect kids negatively when they’re in public school? I hung up the phone after she said that.

A @vrbo host just canceled our booking just over a week before the reservation starts. The host listed “house rules violation” as the reason for the trip cancellation. We were refunded $385 out of the $1003 paid for the booking. Shouldn’t we get a full refund? The host is not responding and provided no other answer as to why they cancelled.

I've noticed amongst friends who have little kids that they are basically forced into waking up when they do. When I was little I remember v clearly knowing that we shouldn't go and wake parents until at least 9am on a weekend, and generally entertaining ourselves in the morning

The judge responded by accusing the lawyer of making an ex parte communication and ordered him to appear next week under threat of contempt. I’m a member of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association “Strike Force,” a group of several lawyers tasked with defending lawyers against judicial overreach at a moment’s notice. We’ll be there to make sure this judge does not try to jail a veteran lawyer just for exercising his First Amendment rights in criticizing an elected judge’s behavior.

The IT guy was acting like a peer. “Ah false alarm” as in there wasn’t a huge problem and it was easy to solve. A court room doesn’t work like that though. It works under STRICT hierarchy and a judge is NOT anyone’s peer. In defense of the judge- you can’t let stuff like that slide in your courtroom if you want to maintain the image of you being in total control of the room. Which is his job. In defense of the IT guy- he didn’t mean anything by it and he successfully fixed the problem. No huge problem here.

My 22 year old cousin was in a car accident with her fiancé, he had been drinking. She had her neck broken and was consequently a quadriplegic. He asked for his engagement ring back. She said he could have it but would have to take it off her finger, which he did. Her fingers were curled up. He had to straighten her ring finger out and took the ring off. She cried the entire time, and we all did.

@teachermother1 I went to a market like this and there were strict guidelines around parent involvement. Parents couldn’t handle payments or give out product.

My almost-13yo is selling soap at an "entirely kid-run" craft market today. It is a really neat opportunity, and I'm glad it exists, but the market is absolutely not entirely kid-run, and it's worth thinking about why we tell such lies.

I share about 100 yards of drive way with my ~70yr old neighbors. For some reason he’s obsessed with knocking down the center grass in the middle of the tire ruts and covering it with gravel. He talks about it all the time, probably 30% of all conversations I have with him are about this. He’s asking if I want to pitch in for more gravel, etc. When I put my parents in a guest house behind the barn, my dad started talking about it too. He got some roundup and sprayed his section of road. Am I missing something here? I see no problem with it. It looks fine. It occupies 0% of my mind. I’m prepared to spend 0 dollars to remedy this “problem” What is happening?

Found out today that I'm for sure inheriting this place from my aunt and uncle. It needs some sprucing up in places but that's half the joy, the perfect way to teach my son two dozen different skills then leave it and its 13 acres to him mortgage-free. Fill it with babies, son.

@handsumquis i know a lot of people whose hobbies as kids are things that no longer work for them now - like an intense sport or school competitions, band, etc. These things are much harder to come by and feel less impactful as adults and I think that’s a lot of people you’re talking about

I dated partners that struggled with not having hobbies or things that made them THEM, its scary seeing such a large amount of adults with little no hobbies, that dont workout, travel, even read, etc
