from a bunch of fundamental constants you could find electrons in materials are vibing at 10s to 100s of attoseconds, how would one image their motion?
We can use the fastest thing we have control over (femtosecond laser, gives you 5 fs laser pulses) to generate an electron pulse (100s of fs) to probe the sample, as well as use the same thing to gate that pulse right before it reaches the sample, down to ~600 as or 6e-16 s.
The gating is done with an optical pulse that is mostly circularly polarized except for half a cycle of linear polarization, and this part couples with the electrons and filters/scatters them in time domain.

FEI shares this legacy. Hereโs the scan input selector, 4022 192 9733

I love these examples of industrial DNA. ASML was able to draw on a strong manufacturing ecosystem left behind by Philips. To this day, ASML uses the same 12-digit codes starting with 4022 for its suppliers that were used by Philips.

hopefully the answer isnโt โsomewhere in thereโ because itโs a little late now

i wonder where that screw was supposed to go

@quantumbeans what do you mean same scale, one says 1ยตm, another says 2ยตm

@macona this is the accelerator of the TEM, which we removed to replace the field emission tip and are now baking to reach UHV
