this got me thinking about 'burgers' again which are scaffold pipe clamps for live production...and I actually found one with the proper name
cheeseboro pipe clamp
affectionately called burgers in the BIZ

Macona@macona
Quite the mechanism for an instrument clamp.

@Houseknech9360 @joecamel90 Blue at most but generally you don’t need to loctite the nut. Real issue is why the key snapped to begin with. Somehow that engine saw a huge sudden load.
English

@macona @joecamel90 I was gonna loctite the nut? Should I not use it on threads?

The power sports “experts” had this Yamaha side by side for months. Never fixed it. Told customer “probably needs a stator”
Customer hired me to install stator. I decided to check cam timing while it was apart. Cam timing was good in relation to actual piston position but the timing mark on flywheel was like 100 degrees off at TDC
Sheared the key off. Spun flywheel on crank.

English

@Houseknech9360 @joecamel90 Do NOT use loctite. Use some bluing to check to make sure you have good taper contact and then install and torque to spec.
English

@joecamel90 The key is probably only few dollars. I’ll assemble it with new one and some red loctite

@NickParkerPrint End. Then a bunch of machined parts instead of stamped sheet metal. Oh well.
English

@macona Ohhh access is a way better reason for all that mess
English

@NickParkerPrint Oh. There are simpler versions of these. It’s just when it’s aerospace they often design things a little excessive. These are made so you can pull the instrument out of the panel without rear access.

English

@macona I mean I guess that does some nice decoupling that a simple screw wouldn’t? Like you are less likely to clamp one end preferentially or put a twist in the clamp from screw head friction while torquing.

@ShooterMcDadden @billyjhowell They are parked for polar alignment before the controls are turned off. This way you don't have to figure out where you are pointing when you start them back up.
English

@billyjhowell Why they all pointing the same way?

Just learned about the concept of a “telescope ranch” in Texas.
People pay to have their $10,000+ telescope rigs set up in the middle of TX to avoid light pollution.
Every night the roof rolls back off the warehouses.
Then you can remote in to your telescope and use it from anywhere in the world.

@otherebecca @Scott_InDixie @JezziiB No, this is not a car. The title is in my name at the county, the bank has a lien on it.
English

@Scott_InDixie @JezziiB Does the lender not hold the deeds until the mortgage has been paid off in the US?
English

You own your house while paying the mortgage. The title is in your name. The bank has a lien on it which means when don't pay they can have it sold and if you sell they get their cut first.
If you didn't own the place while you were paying for it you would have to ask the bank before you did anything.

There is a reason commercial machines used v-groove wheels and rack and pinion.

@Shimmelpfennig @LegacyProgramVP And it’s not even true. The rifle was always in that state.
English

@LegacyProgramVP ”In the Kyle Rittenhouse case, he allegedly crossed state lines with a weapon”
Why exactly do you think this matters in the terms of the lawful ness of the self defense?
English

Kyle Rittenhouse self-defense vs. Dalton Eatherly self-defense: are they the same? (Short Summaries)
In the Kyle Rittenhouse case, he allegedly crossed state lines with a weapon during protests/riots, later proven the rifle was in Wisconsin. Should he have been there? Probably not. I’ve always personally said that. But, he wasn’t provoking and he was well within his rights to be there according to the law.
But what occurred with Rittenhouse to justify self-defense was simple: video evidence played a major role in that outcome, especially footage showing:
- Joseph Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse before the first shooting
- Rittenhouse falling while fleeing
- Anthony Huber striking him with a skateboard
- Gaige Grosskreutz approaching with a handgun visible
All of these situations show retreat and reasonable cause for self-defense. The aggressors clearly were trying to hurt Rittenhouse or worse, while he was retreating (running) and fell.
Rittenhouse was acquitted as the prosecution failed to persuade the jury with sufficient evidence of unlawful use of self-defense.
From what we know from the courthouse proceedings in the Dalton Eatherly aka ChudtheBuilder case is:
- Dalton approached Joshua Fox initially.
- Sources within the courtroom who viewed the video claim that Dalton walked away after the initial interaction, walked around for a minute, went back over by Fox, Fox got up and a verbal interaction occurred. ***This is provocation and a pivotal moment that, if true, will not justify self-defense***
- Dalton switched his phone (on a selfie stick) to his other hand and got in a bladed stance, reached in his jacket pocket for the gun, and the fight broke out.
- Dalton then fired an estimated seven shots; 3-4 shots hit Joshua Fox during the physical altercation. Others hit nearby buildings/office dwellings.
This is backed by affidavit information, news articles, and testimony/video surveillance presented during the bond hearing this past Thursday.
Dalton was charged with attempted murder, employing a firearm during dangerous felony, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. Joshua Fox has not been charged with anything.
In conclusion, the cases might have some surface relation, but the details of both cases are different, especially in the major parts where Dalton has a very extensive and well-documented history of provoking with hate speech while being armed and he approached Fox initially. It appears by the available details and can be argued that Fox only took Dalton down because he feared for his life when Dalton went to pull his gun out of his jacket. Meanwhile, Rittenhouse was on video literally running away or retreating while being attacked, with 2 of the 3 attackers having weapons (skateboard and a pistol).
In my opinion, there is massive difference between the two given the available information.

@anthonieisacnt @OrdinaryInds Seemingly fine. Haven’t messed around too much, only recently reinstalled Windows to mess around with a few things. But overall not bad since most of the bloat is gone
