@JeffSBennion Oh, I agree. The public benefit of sports teams isn't justifiable in the slightest. Taxation for frivolity. I am more concerned about the military and fed connection to this project. I just don't trust the govt (that includes the state govt too).

But just for perspective, we spend $1.2 BILLION subsidizing our sports teams, 900 million in Delta center alone. If you spend $100 in Salt Lake City, fifty cents is going to the Delta center. The Jazz or Mammoth winning some championship one year will NEVER lead to new scientific discoveries, more efficient cars, planes, boats, help educate people, protect our country from nefarious actors, and on and on, whereas AI and the data centers that enable them are ALREADY doing all this and much, much more. The only government funds going are property tax subsidies, which I am against, but are far less oppressive than the direct and indirect costs imposed in us for sports. And I GUARANTEE the pollution for all the cars driving down to watch the games back and forth is far greater than the minimal pollution from natural gas, which is very clean burning. x.com/i/grok/share/0โ€ฆ

My faith guides who I am and how I serve. I believe government should never come between you and your relationship with God, your right to worship freely, or your ability to raise your family according to your values. In Congress, I will always defend religious liberty, protect people of conscience, and stand up for every Utahnโ€™s right to live, speak, and worship according to their beliefs.

@GovCox Except for any of us who understand why authority is handed to an unaccountable, god-like org like MIDA know this is all smoke and mirrors. It's designed to be secret and operate without oversight.

Iโ€™ve heard from a lot of Utahns over the past week about the proposed data center project in Box Elder County. Many are asking questions about water, air quality, energy, land use, and the long-term impact on rural Utah. Those are real concerns, and all Utahns should expect clear standards and accountability. Industry is our stateโ€™s motto. And in our pursuit of economic strength, we must always ensure that development is thoughtful and in line with Utah values. Based on conversations with residents, local leaders, subject matter experts, and project stakeholders, the following actions are now being taken regarding this project. ๐Ÿงต

@KUTV2News @bmullahy2news Likely story. No transparency, no public input, insane tax incentives... --Um--competition. We live in a feudal system governed by elitist criminals.

Meta is one of the worst things to happen in EM. The population soared and city has gone downhill ever since. Meta dragged their feet on their road after ruining them, won't abide by dark sky. And on top of it all, the city is going to raise taxes. So much for prosperity.
Devin@DevinD33

The Meta data center in Eagle Mountain has put billions into the economy. Millions into the schools and now they are building another with estimates being around $6 billion with over 2000 construction jobs. Now some say well after it's all done they don't employ people. The meta data center has already made $150 million in infrastructure upgrades.

@DevinD33 Not truth in taxation but certainly through fee structure (water rate manipulation, for example) and RAP tax. Not insanely high, but it won't stop there. To each their own, I just believe it's gone downhill since Meta and then Tyson. Certainly one reason we changed mayors.

@queso_what The city hasn't raised taxes since 2010. 16 years ago. The dark skies I agree with. But I wouldn't call this the worst thing to happen to Eagle Mountain.

@FatherChrisVor1 Ninth grade, and I take your point, but it's not for the purpose of apologetics. Learning, sure. We rarely, if ever delve into other faiths and we certainly don't dissect their doctrine nor are trained in defense of religious doctrines through argumentation and discourse.

One frustration with Mormon-Christian dialogue online is that you rarely encounter accredited LDS apologists or leaders. Mostly you meet zealous lay defenders trying to make Mormonism sound comfortably โ€œmainstream Christian.โ€ Often it feels more confused than deceptive.
