Chris Bowen has to tell the truth. He must level with the Australian people. We are in a real crisis. Today BP in Roselle, an inner city suburb, doesn't have 91 or 95 petrol, and the price of Deisel is over $3.15 a litre. Shortages are already here. It's unmistakable. He's tried to cover it up in the cities but that's not working anymore. We can all see it. At some point push must come to shove. Bowen is wasting his time trying to change global temperatures, instead of ensuring we have the fuel we need to survive. He is like the work experience kid trying to perform brain surgery. Very dangerous. It has real world consequences for us all. Bowen can't just bullshit his way through it, like everything else he's done so far. He is a danger to our nation. Food security, job security and energy security all rely on the availability of fuel. The problem with Bowen is, he won't even admit we have a problem. And you can't fix a problem that you don't even admit exists. We can have no faith in his ability or his word. He must go now. Resign Bowen. Put Australia first. For once. I just want Australia back.

As a Canadian it's funny that Australia and New Zealand still haven't managed to come up with original flags for themselves, how are you still stuck on a British Ensign in the year 2026?
Ten Years Ago Today@tenyearsnow

New Zealanders vote to retain the current flag over the proposed design in the nation's flag referendum. More than 2 million people vote in the referendum.

@john76709 @JohnRuddick2 Don't know about John but I would impose a super profitcl tax on oil companies who are basically war profiteering . Use the funds to establish high power charging stations for trucks on major highways. In other words get off f...king oil

John, you can't deny the history this nation has in terms of terrorism and radical Islamism across the globe. This is very different to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Literally every other Arab nation is aligned with US/Israel, they recently mused getting involved in the war themselves. It was reaching boiling point when Iran had nuclear capabilities, something had to be done, a time to strike, and that was when Iran was murdering it's own citizens in the streets, upwards of 30,000-40,000. On top of all this, they're affectively aligned with BRICS, who are predominantly backed by China, who is seeking to supplant the US as the world hegemon. Do you want a Communist/globalist world order run by China?

@BishopBarron Gosling's character was forcibly put into a coma and forced into space on a suicide mission against his will. Jesus was no reluctant hero who had to be convinced. He was the willing Savior who, in his humanity, felt the cost acutelyโ€”and paid it anyway.

I just saw the much talked about film โ€œProject Hail Mary.โ€ It's very entertaining and uplifting and features a fine performance from Ryan Gosling. But what most intrigued me were the powerful Christian themes at play in it. The title, of course, refers to the Hail Mary pass in football, since the adventure undertaken is a fairly desperate attempt to save the planet. But it also becomes eminently clear that the reference is not just to football but to the Blessed Mother herself, for the Gosling character is undoubtedly a Christ-figure. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, but it involves a willingness to sacrifice one's life utterly in order to deliver the entire human race from disaster. It is, of course, no accident that Gosling's character is called Ryland Grace, for throughout the movie, his presence and actions constitute undeserved favor to others. A particularly intriguing character in the film is a sober German scientist who relentlessly presses Grace to make the supreme sacrifice, even when he is unwilling. She represented for me the great moral demand that presses upon us throughout our lives, continually summoning us to self-gift. A last observation: Jesus had a second in command whom he called Peter (the Rock); Ryland Grace has a very unusual sidekick whom he calls โ€œRocky.โ€ I'll leave it at that. I know lots of people say that Christianity is in irreversible decline and that we are inhabiting, at least in the West, a post-Christian society. I'm not so sure. Like it or not, we remain a Christ-haunted cultureโ€”and a film like โ€œProject Hail Maryโ€ makes this clear.

๐Ÿšจ The number of service stations running out of fuel is increasing by the day. This is a national emergency. But sure Bowenโ€ฆ keep telling us everything is fine. The government is out of its depth. We all suffer.

@predict_addict @BYDCompany Well the most recent trains are the Metro trains and they come from Alstom Metropolis and built in India. But not sure what your point is, my concern was the comfort of the Chinese HSR seats.

China unveils a 600โ€ฏkm/h (373โ€ฏmph) maglev trainโ€”now the worldโ€™s fastest. It can slash Beijingโ€“Shanghai travel time to just 2.5 hours. Powered by magnetic levitation, itโ€™s ultra-quiet, efficient and emits zero direct pollution.

@boganintel Oz could convert sugar cane to ethanol for ICE cars and canola oil to diesel. Old technology and currently it exports those feedstocks to saner countries which laugh all the way to their fuel pumps. During WWII cars ran on wood or coal gas, see old pics of rearburners & roofbags

About 39-40% of global oil is used for non-transport purposes (latest data from IEA/Enerdata 2023-2024). Transport (road ~47%, aviation/shipping etc.) takes ~60-61%. Of the non-transport share: - petrochemical feedstocks (plastics, chemicals, synthetics) ~14-16% - other industry/heating/agriculture ~20-25%. Fertilizers are mostly from natural gas (ammonia production), with oil playing a minor direct role. This shows oil's role far beyond just vehicle fuel.

Give A Shit About Nature@giveashitnature

How stupid is it that weโ€™re fighting even more wars over oil when we could have spent the same amount of money and transitioned the entire goddamn planet to renewables?
