@8trius @a_shanger @NIH If 100% of her salary is funded directly by the grant, that doesn't change. This is not the norm though. People who lead grants often have portions of their salary covered by the University. The University often relies on some of the dollars being cut to pay that salary.

@a_shanger @NIH It wasn’t obvious to me, that’s why I was asking. I wanted to make absolutely sure I had the right data. Please be patient with those sincerely seeking the truth.

Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above what many major foundations allow and much lower than the 60%+ that some institutions charge the government today. This change will save more than $4B a year effective immediately.

@NIH Hope this doesn’t cut funding for smaller institutions that don’t have billions in endowments.

@LaurenBylsma @DrKorica @TVuckovicJuros Yep I can send a paper to 6 people and all 6 decline. Two days later I send it to 4 people and they all accept. In theory, I'd let one off the hook at that point, but you never know who will actually complete the review.

@DrKorica @TVuckovicJuros As an AE I can say this happens when I get more accept than expected. I always ask for more than 3 as most decline but occasionally I get a rare occasion when 4 accept! If I get 3/4 back quickly then I may let the other off the hook but otherwise keep them as some won’t complete.

If you keep talking about the assassination attempt don’t you dare tell the kids who survive school shootings and their families to “just get over it” What happened today is unacceptable and what happens every day to kids who aren’t the president and don’t survive isn’t either.

I wonder how many people are currently living that can drive stick shift? That’s literally a dying breed. If you’ve ever driven stick, what car was it?

@GuyTalksFinance I've stopped eating entirely and put all those savings into the S&P. Want to eat or retire early? The choice is yours.

People complain about not having extra money while they spend $20 per day on lunch. These people are eating away over $7,000 per year. That’s a retirement plan 🤯

I believe that maybe the food that we get in USA is poison. I’m in Europe right now and have been eating absolute Junk every day I have lost 7 pounds. Sure, I’m walking a lot but it shouldn’t equate to weight loss unless the food is on point. Its just so weird

New: @JacksonLeeTX18 says she is undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer. In a statement, she says she is “confident that my doctors have developed the best possible plan to target my specific disease.” Expects to be “occasionally absent from Congress” amid treatment.

My son had to select all of the shapes that were evenly divided by a line for his end of year 1st grade test. What do you think about the shape circled in red? Evenly divided or not?

Is it me, but do all Black families have this family lore story: "Uncle Blankety Blankety killed a white man, so he had to leave X place, and that's why we live in Y state..." Just my family?
