We've entered into an agreement to join OpenAI as part of the Codex team. I'm incredibly proud of the work we've done so far, incredibly grateful to everyone that's supported us, and incredibly excited to keep building tools that make programming feel different.

@rohanvarma Because it doesn’t have great visual taste when creating artifacts. Whether that is docx files, python viz or a data heavy react dashboard.

If you have tried the Codex App, but don't use it as a daily driver yet: What needs to improve to make it the primary place you work with coding agents?

@NielsHoven My wife was really excited to try the Toddlers can read content; and theory seemed sound. But the toys or kit materials didn’t really click for our daughter. We found it hard to get her reading before Mentava.

@shaayohn What did you think of their reading kit? I actually bought one but I haven’t had a chance to open it and go through it yet

@NielsHoven I really like Lovevery, and get a lot of their stuff. I also bought their reading kit. My 3.5 year old only really started reading after Mentava.

For context, Lovevery makes a $400 "learn to read" kit that we directly compete with But Lovevery can't justify their high price if they're not the best-in-class option anymore Hopefully the hundreds of millions of dollars they make from their other toys will ease their pain

Are there any happy Mentava users out there who would be willing to chat with a reporter for 5 minutes? Let me know here or shoot me a DM, please

I should stop sneering at “spreading” in American debating. Given the utility of voice to text, spreading might become the speed typing of tomorrow.

China's ICE new car sales peaked in 2017. Seven years later, they had fallen by 48%🤯

@codeOfRobin it's probably too hard today, but having some sort of filter to have "earned the right" to do this seems useful

@paulg The problem is game theoretic. Everyone wants links that people share when there is very little incentive to share links. The moment that is normalized, spammy links abound and your timeline becomes a funnel to ad riddled hell holes.

It sucks that Twitter will bury this important result because she included a link, and users will get served some dumb meme instead. Please, please stop deprioritizing links. Everyone wants it.

@neelesh_salian Airport isn’t close to anything “downtown”-ish unfortunately. Where do you need to stay / visit?

@mim_djo Are you planning on sharing the code for this eventually? Just curious on the types of queries it’s failing on.

Running #apachespark in pure driver mode (basically acting as a single-node compute) with 2 cores is too slow, but with 4 cores it’s ok-ish. Anything beyond 16 CPUs is a waste of compute since you’re just waiting on object store. spark in single node is not too bad actually !!

@mim_djo Interesting. I thought their out of core implementation was at least as robust as duckdb / daft. Apparently not.

Love this contradiction. Both @Noahpinion and the earnest replies are correct. Modi is less popular in South India, but more popular among techies (who skew south indian) than lawyers/policy types (who skew north indian). Indians in the US are a very biased sample.
Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@Noahpinion

This is why a lot of Indian immigrants you meet on the West Coast will be techies from the South who like Modi, while a lot of Indian immigrants you meet on the East Coast will be lawyer types from the North who hate Modi.

I'm using python again for the first time in a few years. I was really hoping the ecosystem had evolved past environments. Surely I'm not the only person to finds it clunky and half baked.
