A student in Zurich sleeps in a camper van outside a hangar every night. Just to have more hours to build a humanoid robot. Heโ€™s obsessive. He's not alone. 2,500 students across Europe are getting into robotics right now. And now they united and just launched: ESRA, the European Student Robotics Association. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿฆพ They are bringing together highly talented young people, give them space, give them resources and let them build. By now already 13 robotics clubs. 8 countries. 2,500+ students. I visited several of them over the last weeks to get to know them and let them tell their stories. We've also been helping behind the scenes where we can, because this is exactly what Europe needs. Several multiple billion dollar companies will come out of the ESRA network. Right here in Europe. If the Bay Area had a student robotics network like this, they would never shut up about it. Time we do the same. ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ It only needs a few crazy ones to fix a continent. Turns out they're already building. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

itโ€™s actually quite interesting that despite all the knowledge on distributed consensus, the tech industry is still quite hierarchical

just discovered that if you ask claude to compile the best recipes and come up with the best as a combination, it will give you an interactive cooking view in the chat (!) - was a bit pissed that it was all ounces until i figured out there was a button to switch to metric. wild

building a browser dogfighting game where you prompt your plane config, and an LLM then generates a config for your plan using structured generation. the plane then autonomously fights against an AI using config, kinda feels like robot wars

@stolinski @aboodman Yeah that makes sense for the solo developer I think. My thoughts are going more towards: why do we still think agents as tied to the individual as opposed to e.g. a team. and that kinda requires the management layer to run in the cloud

@aboodman @shellmayr I like all my stuff running on my local network tbh I like that my Mac mini is in the office and I can just use it directly if I need to instead of sshing in.

i don't quite understand why we are still running local claudes/codexes? the majority of the work is not happening on my computer anyways, why haven't there been new flows of making software that are primarily in the browser / online?

@growradio @shellmayr I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s what this person is talking about. When theyโ€™re talking about codex, theyโ€™re referring to the app.

everyone vibe coding their own enterprise apps actually carries some economic risk; short term it may reduce interoperability until everyone realizes how unifyingly efficient it is for everyone in a sector to know the same tool for a job. long term, even numbers != excel
