He appointed a new curia without consultations last December 8th which led to the investigation. This was overturned on December 22nd and the result of the investigation directly led to his resignation

@some_dictionary @CatholicSat Perhaps it doesn't matter so much what the numbers are at the moment, but rather the rate of growth or decline. However, if there are enough vocations and there is growth, or at least no decline, then he cannot be leading the diocese badly.

So the resignation of Bishop Paskalis Bruno Syukur of Bogor, Indonesia, at 63, he who famously declined to be made a Cardinal by Pope Francis, follows a Vatican-led investigation of his leadership of the Diocese as a result of accusations of authoritarianism, abuse of power, and financial mismanagement. He says his resignation is not an admission of guilt but as a way to “avoid conflict”, but it does seem that he was forced to submit his resignation by the Pope. He went to Rome earlier this month to explain himself, obviously that meeting did not go as planned. @CatholicSat The sentiment "to avoid conflict" is rather truthful as the priests of the diocese have been visibly divided on the bishop especially for the last month. It's no wonder why Mgr. Cristophorus of Purwokerto is chosen as the administrator since he was formerly Bogor's Vicar General.

@velky_maly @CatholicSat I'm a faithful of his diocese. For a diocese of 95 thousand priestly ordinations are good, ranging from two to five priests annually. Adult baptisms are stable, my parish for example record an average of 80 adult baptisms per year. The issue is with his handling of the diocese

@CatholicSat It would be interesting to know how successful this bishop was in his diocese in terms of the number of sacraments of baptism, marriage, priestly and religious vocations, etc. that he administered. So that we don't accidentally find out that we are getting rid of good shepherds.

Before that the practice was to have the Pope only open the Doors of St. Peter's while the other three doors were opened (and closed) by their Cardinal Archpriests

@poperespecter1 This is the diocesan approved TLM Community in Jakarta currently operating in two Churches (one in a nunnery the other in a monastery). There were four priests serving this community but only one remained since the others have been tasked with being missionaries elsewhere

This is a video of Indonesian Catholics. The building is different but if you closed your eyes it could be a scene from my own parish in the united states. Catholic means universal. We have the universal Christian faith.
