Now that Sarah Mullally is Archbishop of Canterbury, St Stephen’s House is moving ever closer to full acceptance of women’s orders. This a major trend in Anglo-Catholicism.

“I would still say that the majority of Catholics in the Diocese of Charlotte don’t know anything about what we are talking about.” Despite nearly daily news coverage in both secular and Catholic media, a dubia signed by 40% of his priests, and liturgical directives impacting nearly every parish which fosters priestly vocations in the diocese, Bishop Martin contends that his flock “doesn’t know anything” about the ongoing discord in the diocese.

@CatholicSmark @holysmoke It's his replacement I worry about. If, as happened last time, the current DDW secretary is promoted to prefect, we're all in trouble. (but hopefully Leo realises that and we return to the pre-2021 pattern of appointment - and dare we also hope for a new secretary?)

I do not know if @holysmoke's word on Roche checks out and he's Malta bound. But I do think its likely he is the next of the Francis court to find himself in a new endeavor.

@holysmoke My sources report that there is pressure within the SMOM to call for the removal of Gianfranco Ghirlanda as patron cardinal. On 13 February, Pope Leo XIV received Grand Master Fra’ John Dunlap in private audience.

Arthur Roche leaving Divine Worship to become patron of the Order of Malta, according to a Vatican source. If true, great opportunity for Pope Leo to appoint a non-sociopath to supervise liturgy.

As with all appointment rumours, believe it when we actually see it, & the identity of who replaces the retirement age Roche is probably more important. It will likely also be informative if this happens before or after the next Consistory which is scheduled to deal with the TLM

@EmeseZsBalog Britain had a great culture. It was beautiful - it didn't take itself too seriously, and people's aspirations were rather moderate, actually. Now, it's unrecognizable. The country is culturally destroyed.

It’s been a month since I’ve moved back to Hungary 🇭🇺 after 15 years in the UK 🇬🇧 I was a teenager when I left. Here are three things I’ve learnt and have been reflecting on — a thread 🧵

@M_P_Hazell I imagine Cardinal Roche truly believes it's only 'trads' who don't like him.

Here's the thing: we trads would very much like to play our full part in the life of the Church, as Vatican II asks (e.g. AA 10) and as Summorum Pontificum encouraged, rather than have our entire existence treated as some sort of begrudging "concession" by paranoid prelates.
Austen Ivereigh@austeni

Cardinal Roche calls out the agenda behind the trad campaign. “What else is going on when they have been given the concession of this Mass? What is the problem? Something else is clearly afoot,” he says. ⁦@OSVNewsosvnews.com/cardinal-roche…

@holysmoke These are the kind of men that are selected to be bishops when they are in seminary. You know it; I know it. Risk-averse, bland, and grey.

Great to hear – I think I know which parish it is. But why don’t the English bishops give the Ordinariate church buildings of their own? They’re so pathologically risk-averse and unimaginative.
James Martin@BoroughBloke

@holysmoke My parish was dying on its feet. Closure was a possibility at one point. The Ordinariate took over and transformed the place. It’s since been beautifully renovated and attracts a good congregation.

@holysmoke Agree wholeheartedly. Look at the church in Malton that was generously offered to the RC diocese. Reordered through 90 degrees so the 'sanctuary' is now in the side aisle. Deliberately offensive.

@MLJHaynes @OSVNews The Cardinal himself celebrates a horrible Mass. He makes it all about himself, so he is no-one to give lectures about poor formation to anyone.

For the vast majority of Catholics, this is a non-issue. The Church has bigger concerns than dealing with fringe dissenting groups rejecting St Paul VI's liturgical reform (some even Vatican II). And if it's just about language, Latin can still be used, as @Pontifex noted.
