@RachelMoiselle Agreed. You can’t replicate zeitgeist. That was a very unique situation of the movies and books coming out simultaneously. I remember 2007 very fondly with the hype of Deathly Hallows book and OOTP movie to be released a few months apart. The school was buzzing in the lead up.

Honestly the new Harry Potter show could be superb in every way and still it won’t ever be on the league of the original films. While the Harry Potter story will always be timeless, the specific decade between 2001 and 2011 when the films and later books were released, was a specific moment in time that can never be replicated. I'm thankful to have grown up in the Harry Potter era: queuing up at midnight to buy the new books, dressing up to go see the new films. It was a zeitgeist of magic and hope that will never be recreated. You really just had to be there, as they say, and I’m so very grateful I was.

@demonsthenes13 @aureabore That’s because we don’t really see that part of history. We really only know about Lily and James when they were together. The transitional phase where James stopped being a cocky jerk and Lily grew to like him is not depicted anywhere.

@Darkseid241 @aureabore You have the chronology very wrong. Lily was not friends with James when Snape called her a mudblood. And the apology didn’t change the fact that Snape was heading down the path of being a death eater and Lily recognized it.

@nekaishi You are in for a nasty shock when the show releases. The audience for this is in no way small. Especially worldwide. Now, if the show isn’t good over time, then ratings may drop off and it could get cancelled but even the poorly received Fantastic Beasts movies made a ton.

The Hogwarts Legacy “boycott” was from people who never watched the movies, never supported the franchise, and were never going to buy the game to begin with. They just harassed and abused the actual fans who wanted to play it, who grew up on Harry Potter The people criticizing this show? Saying they wont watch it? They're the real fans—the ones who rewatch the movies multiple times a year, who grew up with the books and games, and who the series is supposed to be made for Sure, some fans will still tune in out of curiosity, or nostalgia, and maybe it’ll slowly build up a new audience of children and young teens. @srt1205 @NickTheSerene @ChrisCarranza @iWomansplainer Ron was not a likeable character in summary for me. Neville’s coming of age arc was done splendidly well and Rowling should have killed Ron off in Book 5 or 6 with Neville becoming part of the trio.

I used to think this too until I re-read the books. The movies failed to capture Ron’s intelligence and charm. Hermione, an only child from a muggle family, would be drawn to the large, magical Weasley family. She also is not meant to be drop-dead gorgeous like Emma Watson, and Ron is supposed to be very tall and become quite attractive. Her relationship with Ron is a slow burn, but it makes complete sense.

Hermione was exceptionally mature, but that’s kind of the point. Both Harry and Hermione were exceptional individually and he was the most normal of them which would make any 17 year old insecure.
