@ShriramKMurthi Well, where did you get the money to get those high-end bicycles?

I mean, he obviously isn't… If *I* were a l33t libertarian C++ haxx0r and had to hide in plain sight, I'd constantly slag off on the language and become a PL researcher creating languages with parenthetical syntaxes and slum it in academia. Oh wait…

i'm not satoshi, but I was early in laser focus on the positive societal implications of cryptography, online privacy and electronic cash, hence my ~1992 onwards active interest in applied research on ecash, privacy tech on cypherpunks list which led to hashcash and other ideas.

@ShriramKMurthi Some may claim that 299791 is an uninteresting number, but Ramanujan points out that both its factors, 349 and 859 end in 9, and the other digits in the first can be derived from the second by taking the (absolute values of) differences in its digits.

It seemed auspicious that the Zipcar that Chung-chieh Shan and I rented had a license plate that began with "FP". Seems very fitting for Indiana University.

@ShriramKMurthi Just checked my pi-hole, running on an old Pi 2B. 16% of queries are blocked. It helps.

This article is rightly making the rounds, but somewhat misses the point. The Guardian annoys you because you aren't paying. What is really off here—and the article completely fails to talk about—is what they do to *subscribers*. I'm already PAYING! thatshubham.com/blog/news-audit

Tomorrow: Admitted PhD student visit day. Me, today: Getting Claude to write code to get Claude to run experiments to test a conjecture I've had, yeeting cash at it so I can run more in parallel, but trying to stay in Tier 1 so this doesn't goes beyond fun money. What a world.

i relate to this so hard. now that my kids are older and up later in the evening, i have 3 hours of time each day that i'm not working or sleeping or with my kids (roughly 8-11pm) during that time i need to manage the house (supplies, groceries), manage the family (school schedules, drs appointments, birthdays and playdates) and do our meal planning. i am lucky to have someone who comes to help twice a week with cleaning and organizing. i could save myself a lot of work on cooking but i like to feed my kids home made food that reflects their cultural heritage. that's a choice i make and i'm not willing to cut back there.

wow I can relate so hard I have 17 month old and 4 month old babies. My free time excluding babycare time is approximately 5 hours a day. During that free time I have to buy groceries and handle errands too. I have one person in my team who is in a completely different time zone and she also has a baby. I am hosting three events next week and two in March, one big conference @buidl_conf in Seoul in two months. I need to hire highly capable agents asap

I've never been so behind in my life. My content team is 4 people. After an unexpected departure, we're down to 3. Another is sick, down to 2. I'm insanely busy and barely count as an employee, so we are down to just one. I'm going to go insane.

I've yet to build a thing I couldn't have built before, just didn't have the time, energy, patience to. BUT, I am working on prototyping a new programming language, and it's a fun/terrifying experience to guide an LLM to do something you know how to do really well in your bones.
Guillermo Rauch@rauchg

Skeptics are saying that agents / opus are not actually yielding new or improved software. That it's just hype. Reply with the most interesting things you've shipped or solved with the latest generation of ai coding tools. I'd love to hear the anecdotes and see the links.
