Christian Nationalism looks like seeing Jesus hanging on the cross and saying, "he should have just obeyed the law." Christian Nationalism looks like the Samaritan leaning over to the man beaten on the side of the road and saying, "before I pay for your treatment and shelter, tell me, are you here legally?" Christian Nationalism looks like Jesus saying to his disciples before feeding the 5,000, "go make sure everyone here has a job and isn't just looking for a handout." Christian Nationalism looks like using the Bible to seek first the power of the empire rather than the self sacrificial love of Jesus. @evanwickham We need more pastors like you, @gpackiam, etc in this moment. And who help teach on media literacy (discerning truth) & discipling others in this area. Outlets like FOX news have been given too much influence in the Church & much detangling needs to be the focus.

People are struggling to discern reality amid competing narratives, wondering whether they are right to question what’s being fed to them day after day.

“What sense am I supposed to make of our country?” A dear local pastor and friend texted me that question, along with a link to a report about digitally altered images connected to an ICE-related demonstration at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

@evanwickham where there is confusion, the Enemy is at work. Over this past year.... especially the past month, it's all becoming quite clear to me what's at play here. I want to be apart of a Christianity that takes a bold stand against cruelty & protects the oppressed— documented or not.

As a pastor in San Diego, less than thirty minutes from the U.S.–Mexico border, the question is unavoidable: What is our Christian responsibility to immigrants and their families, whether documented or not? Welcome to pastoring in 2026.
