Because there’s a sense around the league that the Nuggets “need” to fix their money problem. The Nuggets may not feel that same pressure internally, but it’s what’s being talked about around the league.

.@TheSteinLine reported that the Bucks are potentially joining the Clippers and Hawks as a Peyton Watson destination via Sign-and-Trade. No matter what, Denver has to agree to terms with a sign-and-trade. They have to like the deal. However, the closer this gets to a qualifying offer, the more everyone is likely to sweat. I think it hurts the Nuggets more to go to the qualifying offer deadline on Watson than it does Watson or other potential suitors.

I get Norway’s strategy— play off the ball, don’t press England, let them show their hand in terms of how they want to build up an attack, and let them wear themselves out a bit. Then, after you’ve lulled them into playing slow, press hard, and push quickly in the counter attack. Kinda worked.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. I think there are some dominoes they’re waiting to fall. First was where LeBron is going— that seems now unlikely to be Denver. Next is the Watson deal. If they sign him, they’ll trade CB or CJ for bench players that provide ball handling, shooting, and defense. If they sign and trade him, they’ll look for those same pieces.

I don't think it's a doomer mentality to be, well, very concerned about the trajectory of the Nuggets offseason. There's no real plan outside of haggling with Watson. My biggest complaint about the Nuggets is lack of ambition and that's playing out this offseason.

@gpackiam But they didn’t reverse the decision, they just delayed the punishment, when the one match suspension is always the next match, and has been the next match for others who received red cards on the World Cup. The red card decision still stands…

@gavgray The timing of it made it all worse. Had they reversed it the next day, I would’ve felt fine. But the politics and the meddling from a certain president with Main Character Energy zapped all the edge and fun this team had. They were tight, listless, and lost.

@gpackiam I like Balogun, great young player, but I’m glad he didn’t score yesterday as it would have been a travesty. He should have served his one match ban without there being any fuss. That FIFA decision has now further undermined their integrity.
