Not that anybody asked, but in the time that has elapsed since the @NYKnicks last won a championship, we’ve discovered eight new Subatomic Particles. J-Psi Meson / Tau Lepton / Bottom Quark / Gluon / W-Z Boson / Top Quark / Tau Neutrino / Higgs Boson

@TheAthleticFC They are playing in a stadium that is 5k feet above sea level and high humidity and you complaining about players getting a break? Playing at that altitude is impossible to keep the pace. SMH casuals

Perhaps the only stain on Thursday’s curtain-raiser were FIFA’s newly-mandated “hydration breaks.”
When FIFA announced the change, it said the breaks were for “player welfare,” but many fans saw through the spin and assumed the breaks would be used by broadcasters to show commercials.
On Thursday, Fox, which holds the English-language U.S. broadcast rights, confirmed those fears.
It not only cut away to advertisements; during the second half of Mexico-South Africa, its commercials ran long and caused viewers to miss several seconds of action after play resumed. The blunder sparked an uproar among longtime fans.

@aldumancela @BeatinTheBookie You act like people missed anything. All they did was play replays and show players standing around. I wasn't aware that a goal was scored during the hydration breaks
English

@JuanAgudelo You must of never played in stadiums with high sea level elevation and humidity.
English

@kenbensinger @watjalukinat I understand what you are saying and it is very valid, but i can assure you FIFA placing it mandatory is a good thing for the players. That's why most games have to be played in the afternoon and night time. The heat is unboreable during the peak time in the US during summer.
English

@suarez0227 @watjalukinat Obviously they make sense in cases of extreme heat or humidity but they don’t when it’s in a climate controlled stadium or not hot out.
They do make sense for advertisers though
English

@kenbensinger @watjalukinat Yes but there is a valid reason. In MX the Stadium in Guadalajara is like 5k feet above sea level. It's almost impossible to run at that altitude and not suffer from hydration and exhaustion even at night b/c of how much humidity they have.
English

@suarez0227 @watjalukinat Mandatory hydration breaks in each half of every match - regardless of conditions - is new for FIFA in this World Cup

@Corballyred @emmaohwuhsoh You must of never played in elevation with humidity.
English

@emmaohwuhsoh It was 23 degrees today according to the commentators, is that high heat???
It will be that for PL games in August👍
English

@Corballyred FIFA implemented the in 2014 during the Brazil World Cup and has been a rule for every major league football/soccer in the world. Rage bait 0/10
English

@FOS Hydration breaks have been a rule in all major football/soccer leagues around the world since 2014. And the rule states any games that reach 89 degrees or higher are required to give players hydration breaks.
English

@Quaker2001 @FanCovTeamUSA The hydration break rule has been a rule since 2014 and it's a rule in every major football in the world. must be a casual
English

@FanCovTeamUSA They do, but they're not normally scheduled like this. So yes, this is absolutely FIFA trying to make a buck. Same reason they said they might add extra minutes of stoppage time so the sponsors can get a little extra exposure
English

I genuinely find it funny that people who clearly don’t watch football think FIFA did a hydration break just to have an opportunity to make a quick buck to use an ad break.
Hydration breaks happen every international match.
#FIFAWorldCup
English

@kenbensinger @watjalukinat This rule has been apart of major football leagues in the world since 2014 - people hate knowledge. But loud and wrong smh
English

@watjalukinat Why weren’t there hydration breaks for the past 125 years?
English

@KaeKurd IF you did a little bit of research you will see that every major football/soccer league in the world have hydration breaks. The rule states and games that are held and the temp reaches 90 degrees each teams gets 2 hydration breaks. Must be a casual
English

@charlescerb Every Major soccer/football in the world have hydration breaks. Google is free btw
English

The #FIFAWorldCup hydration break concept is just as bad as everyone feared. A commercial break after 25 minutes is awful. Terrible, terrible rule.
English

@Wes_nship Every major soccer/football league in the world have hydration breaks for when the temp reaches 90 degrees . Google is free btw
English

Hydration break? Commercials?
What happened to the game I casually watch every four years
FOX Sports@FOXSports
The first mandatory hydration break at the FIFA World Cup
English

@btdavis129 @alex_westry Every major football/soccer league has this rule in place. Anytime temp reach about 90 degrees all leagues implement a hydration break. Google is free by the way
English

@alex_westry They don’t care about hydration at all, they just want to find ways to sneak more ad breaks in. If it was actually about hydration and safety it wouldn’t be so long. And getting tactical adjustments in at the quarter mark has never been part of the game.
