On this day in 1988, the sky over Halabja turned deadly.
Chemical gas filled the streets & entered the lungs of the innocents. Thousands of Kurdish men, women & children never made it home.
Today we remember the victims of the Halabja massacre and renew a promise:
Never again.

Not a single Iraqi Kurd has crossed the border.
This is patently false.

Booked tickets to some random comedy show today not realising @KaeKurd has a monthly Wednesday slot at the UpTheCreek. Gutted. I’ll be there next month though!

The most infuriating thing about Middle Eastern politics is reading anything that just refers to “the Kurds” no nuance is ever applied.
You’re talking about a people of estimated 40million, whose plight although similar is very different in each country. Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria each have its own different political systems and history and the challenges and struggles in each of these countries for Kurds are different. There’s different political parties different ideologies, in some cases various different dialects.
You listen to people on here who seem to conflate it as the same leadership that is operating within all these different arenas and that’s simply not the case. Yes Kurds all share the same ethnicity however when analysing any conflicts like the one in Iran, you cannot draw the same conclusions as Syria or Iraq.
