@MsJachymiak That is amazing admin. I wish I had that. That is why this is my last year at my school and I’m going to another school!

I am thankful for an admin at my school who called me as I was driving home to check on me due to walking out of the building in tears. We need more admin like her. I will be forever grateful for her kindness.

@flyingmonkey13 I just got back from Fall Break and I took off today actually. No shame at all. I need a break. My job is not my whole life.

As a teacher, staying home to take care of yourself is more work than going to school and toughing it out. That's important for leaders to remember. So instead of when do you think you'll be back, perhaps we should ask, how can I help? Oh, and mental health is health.

@EDUwithEmily Me too. I hate that there’s a dress code. I understand that we should dress decently but I would also LOVE to be comfy while teaching. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I am a better teacher when I can wear comfortable clothes. Just sayin’.

@PaulSolarz Yeah that’s the same thing we have. We have a goal we set at the beginning of the year and then we try to achieve it. Then we have to show evidence with a reflection piece at the end of the year.

@tangledinthird Probably! I was on our district's Professional Development Committee for years and tried to encourage a different format with our goal-setting and reflection since it had become less effective. An IEP for the teachers would allow for changes in goals & a cyclical process of lrng.

A7 - Changes I'd make to education: - Allow teachers more autonomy - Eliminate grades & replace with feedback & time for improvement - Encouraging more collaborative learning with random partners - IEPs for all teachers to grow & improve based on our needs & wants #LearnLAP

@PaulSolarz I wish I could do grades-free but being in a micromanaged setting, it’s hard to do that.

@tangledinthird Yes! A's cause students to think they're done learning. F's crush students self-esteem if they tried their hardest. Anything lower than expected often incites anger among students & parents, yet very little additional learning is ever made. I was grades-free for years & loved it!

@MarkUreel We have our superintendent of public instruction who just doesn’t feel it’s right to be taught in the classroom. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It infuriates me when he doesn’t know what these children need to be successful in the classroom! #LearnLAP

@LisaKayeM33 We have two programs at our school that we make sure to integrate them into our Gen. Ed. classes like our specials. #LearnLAP

A7: I would like to see more support on the state/fed level at integrating special ed. students into the "non-core" curriculum (music, art, etc.). There is so much good there that can be accomplished for those Ss! #LearnLAP
