So we’re here! Wheelchair arrived and was in working order. Hotel and room feel super accessible and staff friendly, helpful and attentive. All seems promising. A rather lovely 24 degrees too :)

Fran is in hospital this morning for a planned procedure. The staff are great apart from that some keep patronising Fran. Our ‘knowing look’ when this happens is so well perfected. Fran has a first class degree and a masters.

Just had a brilliant interaction: Very curious about the people he saw, a child came up to Frans chair. The parent didn’t discourage it and we all had a smile. Each person’s preferences will differ but for us it’s really important that children can be curious about disability.

After a great day with colleagues I’m safely put on the train home. Everyone has been so helpful. I was even able to amend the assistance at lunchtime and that all worked in London.

Just a quick reflection. To be completely honest I’ve been feeling quite down over the last few days. The new variant is another blow in a long road. Then I remembered that it’s ok to feel like that, and that time has taught us we can do this. Together, we still can. Be safe x
