Just Microsoft things... Recently they terminated the VeraCrypt developer's Microsoft account. VeraCrypt is a free and open-source disk encryption software that performs on-the-fly encryption (OTFE) to create virtual encrypted disks, encrypt partitions, or secure entire storage devices.

I spent the weekend in Hohenwald cleaning up our property after the ice storms took out dozens of pine trees. It was me and three other guys—all over 50. Chainsaws, long days, and more work than we probably should’ve taken on. At one point, Melissa gave us a simple description of what she wanted the land to look like. By the end of the day, we sent her a picture. She loved it. I thought we were done. The guys I was working with didn’t. They kept going. Cutting. Stacking. Cleaning it up in a way that didn’t just meet the ask—but looked right. That stuck with me. In my professional world, I’m used to this: Customer is happy → we’re done. But that’s not how they worked. Their bar wasn’t “good enough for the customer.” Their bar was “good enough for us.” And those are two very different standards. What surprised me wasn’t just the work. It was how I felt at the end of it. Tired, yeah. But satisfied in a way I haven’t felt in a long time. There’s something different about work where: You own the outcome You can see the before and after And the team refuses to leave it halfway done It’s a good reminder. Most of us are optimizing for delivery. Fewer of us are optimizing for pride in the work. I got a reset on that this weekend.
