I’ve seen this response a lot from the 3D print crowd and while their spirit is right (no laws governing what can be printed or requiring internet connection to print) the substance of their argument is off the mark. Yes, you’re right. G-code can’t tell if it’s printing a fire-arm. But an LLM / specialized neural net will be able to. When you say “a 3d printer is dumb it doesn’t know what it’s printing so it can’t prevent firearms” you are merely describing a software issue that can be overcome. You need to be aggressively arguing against the very idea of putting any type of monitoring tool on your printer.

@Wemmy_2 @Mericamemed 99% of printers wont be able to do that, only slicers will. And people will ALWAYS be able to simply download a slicer that doesnt even talk to the internet or have any object detection of any kind.

@Mericamemed They probably intend to train LLMs with gun-model data to find patterns in the G-code to throw errors when something is vaguely gun-shaped

@Mericamemed My slicer can also turn a set of instructions back into a picture. That picture can be processed by a external service that looks for non-approved shapes. The regulators don't care about a ton of false positives, in fact, they look at those as an indication of success.

@Mericamemed LLMs will most certaintly be able to train on these as data and model a statistical likelihood of it having firearm-compatible features. it's not right. I don't wan't it to. It's not what I pay for when I get a printer -- but the capability is coming.

Why is there psychological nomenclature for every one of their made up complaints. Men don’t care about the brands or products. Women care. That’s why he appealed to the wife who he knows will nag her. Because she has in the past. Mine is specific as well. So I require her to be specific so we don’t have to deal with stupid shit like this video. Mental load. Unpaid labor. All stupid psycho babble TikTok brained bullshit.

First person shooters burned me out so hard on terrible experiences in 2021-2022 that ever since, I cant even play games at all if it starts to feel like nothing about the experience would be worth talking about to someone else about. Anyone else experienced this?

@Astra_Lumi @Lord_Mordrak @datnofact Beats me man. I feel like I need to just stay in my silo sometimes. Im only interested in games as far as they can give me an experience I would actually bother telling someone else about, so Im uninterested in this very friction-free ideal people make noise for.

@venompilled @Lord_Mordrak @datnofact It's crazy to me that we have seen for decades now different teams of professional devs trying their hardest to stop players from ruining their own experiences, and some people still deny its existence.

@Lord_Mordrak @Astra_Lumi @datnofact This is why its objective that its better to just avoid designing games in a way that they do this to people. Outside of corridor shooters the appeal of games is that you dont have to do the same thing every time. So dont leave room for hyper optimization.
