alright, it's been 7 days & i was very diligent with all of the above, that meant i successfully did: ✅ no yt/reddit/X/social ✅ barely used phone ✅ printed shit to read physically ✅ great wake/sleep routines ✅ 90+ sleep scores ✅ better focus i've summarized my results:

anyways, 7 days ago i started creating a game for #vibejam tentatively called GET IN THE SHELTER — it's 1970s in windy Oklahoma and a sudden tornado warning leaves you with 5 min to get into your shelter before the tornado hits i've never made a game before but am LOVIN it

ultimately though, i consciously observed that my ability to control my attention was both weak and malleable: many times, i found myself reaching for my phone or trying to do something else, and each time i caught myself immediately. it's like a variation of meditation: you become more aware of your actions and can immediately guide yourself to stay focused on the task.

pretty sure i got some AI brain fry and general brain rot, like input is way >>> output so for 7 days im doing a reset: • ❌ no yt/reddit/social • ❌ phone = text/call/facetime only • ✅ go analog where possibly (e.g. print & read papers) • ❌ no screens before/after bed • ✅ fixed sleep (10pm-6am) • 📖 use AI properly (don't just skim and accept - learn & graduate on any new concepts/knowledge before moving on) will report back in 7 days

my old roommate left a canon mp250 behind and i decided i wanted to print and read papers for learning purposes. it only supports macos sierra though, which was released 9 years ago. i gave that driver to codex and asked it to create it for me and it worked

codex + gpt 5.4 was able to create a printer driver for me for an old printer that doesn't support macos sequoia anymore 🥹

it's been more than a few months and ts tough

building something new, this time with a real problem, real users, real potential. checking back in a few months.
