I "drove" to a meeting this morning. Actually I didn't drive at all, FSD did. From my driveway to the parking spot, 30 miles. In fact, I barely remember the drive, my brain was very focused on something else. On FSD v14: 85% of my interventions: finding a parking spot. 15% wanting to take a different route. 0% safety critical. 100% true statement.

@pbeisel 100% agree. My experience as well. Tesla releasing the ability to drop a pin at a destination like the A.S.S. system would solve that 85% issue. The 15% issue can be addressed by simply clicking "save route" if that becomes a feature.

There is a motto in aviation that the pilot must “aviate, navigate, communicate” in that order. Make the transposition to FSD, I would say the car needs to “drive, navigate, communicate” FSD v14 is already flawless in the “drive” stage. Next step for Tesla is to nail down navigation, specially regarding parking. Finnally, they can working improving communication: allowing the passenger to select parking spots, select parking, etc. But also adding a voice interface with Grok. And why not also some “car to car” communication to improve traffic in the future.

@pbeisel greatest shortcoming of FSD is that it cannot be prompted by language, if you could tell it "find a parking spot near the door" or "turn right the block after" the car wouldn't have to guess

@pbeisel The route design feature being ignored set them back on map data by a year. FSD should’ve shipped with it in V10

@pbeisel The real signal isn’t perfect driving, it’s driver boredom. When you forget the trip happened, autonomy has arrived — the rest is just optimization.

@pbeisel 95% of my disengage miles are school parking lots. Fsd can do them but I don't want ppl hating my kids bc fsd drive like a grandma in parking lots

@pbeisel Same with me. Very inconsistent parking in parking lots and at my home too. And sometimes it wants to take a crazy route. But at the rate of improvement in the software, I’m sure it will be fixed very soon.

@pbeisel I very often finish work in the 1-3am zone. 60 miles home. By far my most dangerous activity. Now I buckle my seatbelt, tap my screen and more or less the next thing I know I’m in my driveway!

@pbeisel You rode to a meeting while everyone else was stressing because they were driving. FSD, a true miracle 😊 Maybe we could just retire the word “ drive” and replace it with “ ride”?

@pbeisel Being able to make real time navigational requests to Grok, using verbal prompts would be off the charts cool.

I’m 2 weeks into my model y juniper and had the weirdest experience at TJs. I was walking in and an employee with shopping carts coming out the door. I literally stood there for a moment expecting a ghost FSD to navigate the situation. Surreal. Fsd is so mind blowing that I expected it to take over my own motor functions so I can just check the fuck out.

@pbeisel At stop signs, turning right on red, etc, I’d love to be able to say, Go, w/o it coming to a complete stop, pausing, then going. Often, it misses oppty to go, and I’m stuck waiting. Actually, I almost always take over for FSD, which is not ideal.

@pbeisel The navigation should allow us to customize the route by click on the road on screen. Most of my interventions right now is because it goes to navigation route that are somehow correct or not the one that i like.

@pbeisel I guess with HW5's extra memory, local car preferences like favourite routes and even driving style can be stored with the profile on local hardware. Advanced FSD users will be very happy with this next level. 😀

@pbeisel My test drive of a Tesla wasn't so nice. The car stopped in oncoming traffic. Immediate emergency style intervention was required. FSD is going to get some people killed. Mark my words.

@pbeisel My Tesla drives me to work ( parks at parking spot) from home garage and back home ( parks in the home driveway but doesn’t know how to go back to the garage yet) by the touch of a button. I am waiting for the new update which will allow my car to return to the home garage.

@pbeisel 90% if my interventions are to keep FSD from missing the exit. Two weeks ago, I had the time so I stopped interventions to and from work. Result: 15/20 exits missed in even light traffic. It just refuses to get over in time.
