@nazzobetweeting Agreed it’s shocking how most people tie ethnicity to nationality, it’s polluted the international conflict discourse. The disparity in knowledge of this is so wide amongst urban/rural, immigrants/native populations and young/old. Woke Gen Z is wiser than their parents here!!!

@nazzobetweeting Indian and Mexican is a cultural and national identity while the people belong to a ton of different ethnicities: Mestizo, Mayan, Zapotec, Punjabi, Gujurati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, etc. Asian, Black and Hispanic are pan-ethnic geographically tied identities.

the *way* race and ethnicity are defined in the US is EXTREMELY flawed (“Asian” as a race, as if Pakistanis and Japanese share a phenotype, or Indian/Mexican as an “ethnicity” when sub-ethnic groups exist in each country) but just the fact that Americans are able to distinguish between race, ethnicity, and nationality puts us miles ahead of so many other countries when it comes to this discussion. people genuinely not being able to understand that your ethnicity is not *inherently* tied to your nationality in the big year 2026 is crazy

every time i ask internet leftists to give me a name of a candidate they’ll actually vote for and they say AOC, i always have to laugh, for this exact reason. this is how your own ilk talks about the candidate you pretend you’re going to rally around. shitlibs will vote for AOC faster than the left will
Anthony Doyle🍉@Anthonysmdoyle

This moment kinda showcases my biggest concern with how many leftists are making AOC the center of the political movement right now: She has shown many times she has pretty bad political instincts. She is not a room reader. That is an essential skill.

@shirty_owl @estherzelda0514 Lay off the drugs. People living around the poverty line are still having kids and dealing with issues previous generations had. You’re an absolute ghoul for wishing those less fortunate never experience the joys of fatherhood and motherhood to fulfill your eugenics fantasy.

@estherzelda0514 I’m not sure that the poor having less children is a bad thing. The personality traits that predispose people to be poor in tbe first place eg lower intelligence, higher impulsivity, will become less common over time which should be a benefit to society overall.

The issue is that the bottom half of women are much higher achieving than the bottom half of men, yet women are still expected to work just as hard as men and do all the domestic and childcare tasks. So lower achieving women opt out from fishing through the dregs of male losers that are perceived to only decrease their living standards. Men could fix this by prioritizing education, learning to be more emotionally astute and supportive, and taking on more domestic and childcare tasks. Instead, the bottom quintiles of men have prioritized sports betting, crypto, gig work with no benefits, streaming, and consuming bottomless wells of manosphere slop that teach them that they have no responsibility to better themselves or offer anything worth having to women, who need to be viciously politically repressed and treated like garbage. And people wonder why the poor no longer get married and have children.

@DarkLordeBryan @blankslate2017 @AdamMantine Yeah thing is that most single secular states have this little problem of being awful when it comes to ethnic tensions UNLESS they're extremely decentralized (ie Switzerland, and to a certain extent Canada and Belgium). So, 1SS has to start by acknowledging that fact

It would be a lot easier if the left would push for a 2SS instead of its current muddled position. They're only focused on demonizing Israel as rogue state, but have no solutions (other than re-litigating 1948). It's a dead end.

@blankslate2017 @AdamMantine Absolutely false, one staters want a binational state where everyone has equal rights Jews and Palestinians under the law and representation in government. The 2SS is a dead fantasy as Israel is occupying half of Gaza and has expanded settlements all over the West Bank.

@AdamMantine Yeah, because they want the Palestinians to out populate the Jews and then take the state over and end the Jewish State concept. It's lunacy.

@havivrettiggur Your points show the religious Islamic nature of these states aka choosing to embed the primary language and ethnic groups in the Constitution. They’re ethnic states rooted in Islamic tradition/law but they offer a non-discriminatory naturalization pathway for all foreigners.

I dunno man. There's some small chance there are a few Arab-Islamic "ethnostates" out there in the Middle East. Iraqi constitution: ”Islam is the official religion of the State and it is a fundamental source of legislation: No law may be enacted that contradicts the established provisions of Islam.” "This Constitution guarantees the Islamic identity of the majority of the Iraqi people.” Egypt: "The Egyptian people are part of the Arab nation seeking to enhance its integration and unity” “Islam is the religion of the State and Arabic is its official language. The principles of Islamic Sharia are the main source of legislation.” Syria: "The Syrian Arab Republic … is part of the Arab homeland; The people of Syria are part of the Arab nation.” "The religion of the President of the Republic is Islam; Islamic jurisprudence shall be a major source of legislation.” Jordan: "The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is an Arab State… Its people are part of the Arab Nation.” "Islam is the religion of the State and Arabic is its official language.” Kuwait: “The people of Kuwait is a part of the Arab Nation.” Algeria: "Islam shall be the religion of the State." “Algeria, land of Islam, an integral part of the Great Arab Maghreb and an Arab, Mediterranean and African country... the fundamental constituents of her identity, namely Islam, Arabism and Amazighism.” And whatever you do, do not, for the love of all things holy, look up the Palestinian constitution.

An ethnostate is not simply just “a state that happens to mostly contain one ethnicity”. Lebanon is not an ethnostate. Neither is Iraq, Jordan, or Egypt. An ethnostate, for Israel specifically a “herrenvolk democracy”, is a state that builds its politics on representing one group

Lebanon had two civil wars over Christians remaining the majority Jordan had a civil war due to Palestinians becoming the majority Iraq had civil war rooted in the Shia majority achieving majority control and decades of revolts Egypt expelled 700,000 non-Arabs under Nasser Issues and conflicts rooted in identity are common and have occurred in all of the countries you listed. And as a more general matter, there's no country anywhere which wouldn't face some kind of political crisis if its majority group or groups somehow became a minority.

The problem of Israel, in two sentences is this: the entire state depends on the existence of a permanent Jewish majority. If non-Jews become the majority, Israel as we know it collapses into chaos

@RishiRamaraju @admcrlsn He excites local college kids and Zoomers who have heard of him from his stream to get the word out to get their friends, coworkers and families to vote for Abdul. It can help marginally if his Hasan’s followers help with the ground game with knocking on doors and calling voters.

@bigdayscoming @souljagoyteller None of those groups are large and they're indigenous and native to the land on which the modern countries exist on so what's your point. All are citizens now unlike Palestinians in the WB and Gaza. No good faith person is saying Israeli Jews who are also native should leave.

@00001_Agent @souljagoyteller The people part of larger groups can accept their status or willfully contribute to the new polity or move back. Fear of safety is not irrational. Tell that to the Armenians, or Ukrainians, tell that to South Africans or Indigenous peoples in North and South America.
