this berkeley 189 lecture is probably the clearest explainer of the attention mechanism i've come across. provides a very good intuitive understanding. if you already know about CNNs then scroll to about halfway in: youtu.be/mqaFEvi5rWE?si…

a number of people have reached out to me about my math spaced repetition cards
my linear algebra (632 cards): "Linear Algebra and Its Applications" by David C. Lay, Steven R. Lay, and Judi J. McDonald: app.mochi.cards/decks/e11c234d…
my vector calculus (640 cards): "Vector Calculus" by Susan Colley and Santiago Cañez: app.mochi.cards/decks/e11c234d…

Every backend engineer should know how distributed systems work and their basics.
If you want to actually master Distributed Systems, stop hoarding tutorials and watch Martin Kleppmann’s free lecture series.
It completely changes how you think about building scalable, fault-tolerant backends.

@cneuralnetwork Bro i graduated and I lost access to my institute mail recently like 3 months ago. Can you do anything for that 😞 I'm still unemployed bruh

@elliotarledge This time I will even grind deep learning and i would learn to fine-tune models etc and the hard stuff too. Your account always gives me motivation for this.
I will go even harder now 🤠
English

@elliotarledge I'm trying to pull off the craziest grind ever, a week ago I did not even know how to use a terminal but then in just seven days i completed a 30hr webdev cohort. But then again I slacked off for 15 days, now I will start it again and even harder and faster. This time I will--

If concepts didn't need to marinate in my brain for them to be fully understood, I would have learned everything that I know today, technically, about LLMs, deep learning, and CUDA programming in three months, give or take.
It's okay if you take a bit longer. Don't be to you hard on yourself.

Deep Learning bros and sisters, this is a great intro to computation graphs in Pytorch, and precursor to understanding TorchDynamo.
I remember learning neural nets in TensorFlow 1. icymi, TF1 was a dictator library that drilled static computation graphs deeply into your brain for life.
Nodes, dependencies, control flows, sessions, placeholders, "feed_dict", etc etc... slide below is from an old (2017) stanford lecture.

this PhD student had 47 interviews and 4 offers before she was hired at OpenAI.
she practiced with her “notes on LLMs” and math and they’re a goldmine. super concise and organic and shared to everyone for free. you can use her notes or her topic list to study on your own.

I'm joining OpenAI next week!🥹 The job search turned out to be really challenging but also super rewarding, so I wrote a small blog to share what I learned along the way and hopefully make the process a little less mysterious for the next person. alisawuffles.github.io/blog/job-search

Day 5 of grind @kirat_tw
I learnt about mongodb and sql and I created basic todo apps with both of them.
I broke the continuity for 3 days but now I am even more focused to complete web dev

English

@densh_ar @Sekharendu60107 @kirat_tw bro, can you please share what all live classes completed in the webdev section? just a pic of the classes he took until now will suffice. I actually got this from someone by paying him money but he did not upload any latest videos and i dont know the actual order 😭

How is the 100xSchool Combined Bootcamp by @kirat_tw ?

Day 4 of grind till I get a job @kirat_tw
I wrote a calc app with a backend HTTP server using fetch, also axios and express. I also learnt about middlewares. I learnt a prereq video about Js runtimes. I learnt a lot of stuff in 4 days, so I will only do assignments tomorrow

Day 3 of grind @kirat_tw
Today I learned about HTTP and I wrote my first HTTP server using express. Tomorrow I will write my first app, a calculator app that talks to a backend instead of just client side app.
I am loving this and can't wait to learn webdev fast 🥵
