i remember when my business partner asked if we could add those “Login with Google” at our fintech i told him we shouldnt, but not because it’s complex to implement (it’s not) the more options we give the user, the bigger the code surface we have to keep protected imagine you are building a safe house. there’s a really heavy main door you built. but you realize some clients are coming from the alley, and you hire a 3rd party company to build another door for them that’s exactly how i see it: one more entrance to be exploited by hackers trying to invade your safe house “come on, do you think you can protect your neobank login better than google’s oauth?” too many variables - which i dont control - can lead to users getting their google workspace exploited so yeah, the good old email + password + 2fa token still seems the go-to option for any fintech imo i’ve worked 6 years for Citigroup protecting the bank from hackers, and i must say… the new era of hacking with AI has just begun and companies are not ready for the chaos it’ll bring
