38-Year-Old South African Woman Arrested at Abuja Airport With 5.75kg of Her%in Hidden in Suitcases A 38-year-old South African woman, Will Jessica Ann, has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle 5.75 kilograms of her%in into Nigeria through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. According to a statement issued by NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was arrested on Monday, July 6, 2026, during the arrival clearance of passengers aboard Qatar Airways Flight QR1433 from Doha. She was travelling with her three-year-old son. NDLEA said operatives discovered 14 large blocks of her%in concealed inside two suitcases. The agency said the suspect initially denied travelling with any checked baggage, but investigations revealed that the luggage tags matched the claim tags attached to her passport. The statement read, “Though she initially denied travelling with check-in bags, after operatives were able to quickly establish that the two bags containing the drugs had tags which tallied with the claim tags attached to her passport, she recanted and admitted ownership of the bags, adding that she forgot she checked in the two bags.” The agency said the suspect claimed she travelled from Cambodia through Doha to Abuja and alleged that intelligence linked her and her husband, Jan Coenraad De Jager, to a transnational dr+g trafficking syndicate operating along the Cambodia–South Africa route.
