WAKE UP AIFF! Stop enjoying the FIFA World Cup 2026 free trip. @KhelNow The FIFA World Cup 2030 qualifiers begin in March 2027, and India is currently just one position away from dropping into Round 1. For those unaware, Round 1 is essentially a knockout playoff between the lowest-ranked teams in Asia. Lose that tie and your World Cup campaign is over before it has even properly started. India are currently ranked 138 in the FIFA rankings. The closest AFC nations behind them are Turkmenistan (141), Yemen (145) and Singapore (148). All three are currently in the Round 1 bracket. If any of them overtake India in the rankings over the coming months, #IndianFootball could be heading towards a nightmare scenario. Meanwhile, the rest of Asia is already preparing for the qualifiers. Malaysia have overhauled their coaching and technical setup. Bangladesh are actively expanding their pool of diaspora players. Other nations are planning months ahead. What exactly is India's plan?

Even before travelling to Aizawl, I had already heard so much about the RFYC Naupang League and how it could be a game-changer for #IndianFootball youtu.be/x5HVFy8Qw0g?si… because it is trying to solve two of the biggest problems in our ecosystem: age fraud and the lack of competitive matches for U-12 players. Now, after getting the chance to watch it firsthand and speak to all the stakeholders involved, I genuinely believe that if this type of baby league can be implemented across India’s football hotbeds, it could become part of the answer to the question the whole country asks every four years: when will India qualify for the FIFA World Cup? I still remember what the Japan U-17 head coach told me after India’s 4-8 defeat when I asked what India could learn from Japanese football. He said, “India have 5-7 very good players here, but do you know we have 23 players in this squad and another 250 players of the same age group back home available for selection.” What he meant was simple: you don’t just develop 10-12 good players or one strong generation, you develop a pool of 250 players in every age group so coaches always have quality options to choose from. The @KhelNow team has worked hard to bring this original story, and hopefully other State FAs and organisations with major CSR projects can study and implement what Reliance Foundation and Mizoram Football Association have done through the Naupang League. Do watch and share your feedback. @RFYoungChamps @RFYouthSports @MizoramFootball

Really want to know, have the AIFF Technical Committee, Executive Committee, technical director and National Team Department watched a full 90 minutes of the Indian Football Team over the last two years and genuinely felt they are doing enough for the country? #IndianFootball

@UjwalKS @Shaji4Football The article conveniently doesn’t mention the fact that the author himself had a sizeable opportunity with the National Federation for the sport and more, to change things, but did not do anything substantial with it.

Khalid Jamil was appointed to take India to the AFC Asian Cup 2027 by grinding out results in the remaining qualifiers, and at the time, it felt like the right decision given AIFF's budget constraints and the immediate need for results. Khalid's coaching career has been built on getting results. But he cannot be the long-term head coach when India's next competitive match is only in November 2027 and he is already using the Unity Cup as preparation for the SAFF Championship, while Jamaica, Zimbabwe and Nigeria, all of whom missed out on the FIFA World Cup 2026, are using the tournament to build for the future WC cycle. India now needs a project coach with international football experience, someone who has taken countries to major tournaments and can build towards the future, not just prepare for the SAFF Championship. The national team setup also needs a complete overhaul. The goalkeeping coach, assistant coaches, doctor, physio, masseur, team manager, and the technical committee all need to be removed urgently.

How the BCCI built the ultimate "Sports ATM" 1. The Numbers: Two franchises (#RR & #RCB) sold for $3.3Billion 2. The Cut: BCCI takes 5% of the sale value. 3. The Result: A cool ₹1,500cr+ in fees alone. It’s no accident, it is the result of smart planning to turn the #IPL into a global powerhouse.

@BluePilgrims Goa don’t have genuine football club supporters only if you create hype then there will be people. The demographic is also rapidly changing as more and more Goans are moving abroad Goa has influx of other states people moving in Goa who don’t replace the football enthusiasts.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 draw is set to take place later today in Washington, DC. FIFA is yet to find a broadcaster in India for one of the biggest sports events. It’s not just #IndianFootball struggling for a broadcaster; football in general is facing the same issue. @KhelNow
