Merz confirmed the US will no longer deploy promised Tomahawk missiles to Germany due to shortages from Iran war. Expect a renewed surge of interest in Ukrainian long-range drones, with a proven range over 1500km. Germany helped equip Ukraine. Now we can return the favour.💙💛

@d_foubert @HughBrice And what is the “widespread, long-term and severe” damage from hitting an empty tanker (look at the waterline) in a steering area? crying russians would trigger Black Sea oversalination?🤔

@HughBrice Treaties like Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions and the Environmental Modification Convention only prohibit damage that is “widespread, long-term and severe.”

@PVerijke @Felix_Nuno There always will be a war while they’re able to wage it. No point in waiting for the war to end. WWII started not because Germany had been "humiliated". It started because the USSR circumvented military-industry sanctions, and Europe sat on their arses looking at Munich.

Not a chance. Russia needs isolation, decay and division.
Michael Verstraeten@MichaelVerstrae

@jalle51 After Putin, Russian needs to join the EU and NATO under the condition of 10 years of change: democracy and free markets. In this way we can much faster help Russia to recover and to pay back for Putin's craziness in Ukraine.

@PVerijke @Felix_Nuno Raise a question again about Koenigsberg, Sakhalin and Tuva. They’ve lost their moral power to occupy these. Sanction them up to a strangulation point. Any aid or relief should be provided solely in exchange for parts of their nuclear and bioweapons arsenal 🧵

@PVerijke @Felix_Nuno You had Germany completely occupied, stripped bare of any military technology (incl. much of industry and science) and yes, controlled. That’s why it worked, not because of post-Marshall economic growth. May I remind Japan is not allowed to have a proper army up to this day? 🤔

@0lenka3 @Felix_Nuno Hence there need to be a framework to keep them under control. We have done the same with Germany after WWII.

@PVerijke @Felix_Nuno obviously the contrary has not worked with russia either. russians may call themselves victims but after 1991 they had it ALL. International businesses. Enormous money invested. WTO. G7. Anything. More than anyone could hope. More then they’d even asked for. The result?

@Felix_Nuno Has not worked after 1918 with Germany, and was the main reason for WWII. Why make the same mistake?

@Felix_Nuno I agree. Can you imagine where the world would be right now if the US and other countries had turned their backs on Germany and Japan and Italy after WW2? If they had thought "isolation, decay and division...' was the answer?

@IceThat48637 @neolatyno It’s epic. It’s iconic. They didn’t have special effects, they didn’t invite expensive actors. All they had was meager budget, brilliant screenwriting and much attention to details - and the result appeared overwhelming. So many tried to follow the lead; all failed miserably.

@chain_rad @WarMonitor3 Frankly speaking, I don’t think anything of it happens. They didn’t become an "international pariah" in 2014, neither did they in 2022. If they use nukes now, Donny would still love them, China would still trade with them, and countless Indian accounts would justify whatever 🤷‍♀️

There are several issues that make that unlikely to me. First, fallout would come right back at them. They would be an international pariah. Trade would be done for them except for black market. You could assume the EU will strike back. Someone hopefully would put a bullet in Putin’s dome first.

@WarMonitor3 The US is playing a heavy role in this, IMO. They are trying to drive Brent higher.

Russian air defences are being increasingly overwhelmed by the volume of Ukrainian drone strike deep into its territory which are hammering the Russian economy seems like a turning point.

@FrankenforIowa The EU is slow in decisions. So when one is made, it’s going to be not buying any material from any USA: Trump’s or not. Cannot calculate defense strategies and costs of a whole continent based on unpredictable/unreliable sources.

The new European Defence Union will not be purchasing materiel from Trump's USA. That is a massive blow to the US defense budget...everything will get more expensive.

@_evolution328 @HotSotin Well, they have some fine coffee beans. And some gourmet heirloom varieties of rice. And some of their islands are quite a fancy tourist destination - Gili, Komodo, Lombok etc (if you don’t mind mosquitoes, jellyfish and sandflies, but the rest may be indeed beautiful) 🤔
