Iryna Karzutska’s murder hits hard, and it’s personal... My dad, an immigrant from Sudan, came to Brooklyn in the late ‘80s chasing the American Dream. NYC was a warzone then, with 2,245 murders in 1990 alone. He drove a cab, barely spoke English, had no money, and got robbed and assaulted repeatedly.
