Hardware disparity is real and exists (and has existed) but the rush to self-host is a symptom of remote usage costs.

Turns out little toy electronics are really intuitive (granted, I'm playing at the "combining components with a flashed ESP32" level and not at the component-design level). Just ask "I wonder what component accomplishes [task]" and you can pretty conveniently add it to a build.

@VictorTaelin Different domains handling the same ontological concepts under different grammars regularly yields unique insights. The practice isn’t inherently bad but reconciling them should be an objective

humans are just so confused about everything, we invent layers of complexity on top of a simple underlying reality, assign different names to the same fundamental concepts, spawn entire fields to investigate the same mathematical objects under different grammatical names

It’s not usefulness alone. Integration into services is useful but it doesn’t create AI preference (though anecdotally I know people who exclusively use Copilot because it’s in their taskbar…) — it’s perceived capability (and general knowledgeability) through perspective. I find Grok is a great reference and lookup tool but its contextual awareness and willingness to call a novel-but-functionally-incorrect idea a bad one is where I start having my issues with it. As much as people dislike Claude’s pushback, I have a personal preference for it when I’m playing with a toy idea and need to vet it. Usually there’s a middle ground where the intelligent design lives a few steps off of what I initially intended but not quite Opus’s first instinct either.

@jietang @teortaxesTex On benchmarks, yes, but as measured by true usefulness even Q1 would be very impressive. Anthropic has rightly focused on maximizing useful intelligence, which does not show up in benchmarks, but definitely shows up in revenue.

The funny thing about Grok is that it's a perfectly serviceable model that suffers from a lack of standout features. It wants to be taken seriously within its own harness (grok.com), tries to play an edgy character register in X replies, has the cgi personas that have no utility aren't anything past initial novelty, wants to be "the affordable model" but can't beat DeepSeek pricing...

@Siriuszbusiness @sadreturns You use these types of images for art study so you can create your own images of sexuality that cannot be integrated with love. :minion:

@sadreturns honestly, I use these types of images for art study. like if you need to come up with a specific pose you can look at playboys and find models who are posed similarly to what you're thinking about drawing, and formulate a better idea of how it should look.

When you've lived as a /b/, /v/, and /pol/ tard you send yourself into this deep and secure bubble that the world has and will always be fucked up and no one will understand if you tell them. This drops and you still can't. You're told not to think about it Why? When can we?
