They said the quiet part out loud that FIFA won’t: Officials say 50% of tickets for knockout round games (so 4 of the 9 in DFW) are being withheld and won’t be released until they know the teams playing in them. I.e: when the group stage ends. 3. Ticket sales are higher for matches where teams are determined. What this means: FIFA is holding back those knockout round tickets because they know they’ll get more money for them later. If you have any interest whatsoever in going to a knockout round game, buy those tickets now. Yes, you’re gambling on what teams will be there, but you can map out the possibilities by looking at the schedule. The spots are predetermined (Ex. July 3 is 2D vs 2G, so if USA finishes 2nd in group D, their first knockout game will be in DFW.) Other notes: Based on hotel bookings dates, the highest interest are for England vs. Croatia and the semifinal. Officials also said FIFA has been dropping its large blocks of reservations and they’ve been booking to individual travelers now.
