@MonitoringBias @zakfilm real. season 1 made it seem like there was some kind of religious horror undertone that would be wildly explored but it was basically like “yeah, they’re bad people…okay moving on”
English

@zakfilm The problem with Severance is that season 2 was a steaming pile of shit.
English

The problem with Severance like many other shows out now is the long wait for the next season. Mad Men, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and The Sopranos all released a season every year which always kept them in the conversation and made it easier for people to want to remember.
Even Succession and Better Call Saul came close to doing that besides their last 2 seasons when Covid happened.
No tv show should be having 3 or 4 year gaps between each season otherwise people will move on.
doomer@uncledoomer
wow it turns out that this scene that everybody said was the greatest thing in television history got completely forgotten about after just a couple months
English

@Samuraijrussell @BradWitbeck is your argunent “i don’t care all the other churches taught this for 150+ years, only that the mormons did”? you think that’s somehow a “gotcha”? lol
English

@0xcfbezel @BradWitbeck The Mormon Church still taught this doctrine…
So, the Mormon Church taught non-Mormon, racist doctrine for almost 150 years is your argument? 🤡
English

No, "Mormons" aren't racist.
In this lovely little clip, Matt and Joe got an enormous amount of stuff wrong about my Church and my faith.
For starters, they're framing the Church as currently racist based on now disavowed and speculative explanations regarding race. Their clip doesn't even do the courtesy of mentioning that it was explicitly disavowed, let alone grapple with how it is actually contradicted by Book of Mormon teachings that all are alike unto God.
Also the cursing in the Book of Mormon has nothing to do with Africans and the Book of Mormon itself had nothing to do with the priesthood ban—It talks about a curse of darkness on the Lamanites who were understood as forefathers of Native Americans, who were allowed to hold the priesthood. I suspect they leave this out because they want to paint the Book of Mormon itself as racist—either that or they just really, really don't know what they're talking about. Also, it's worth noting that the way the Book of Mormon talks about the "curse of darkness" fits in remarkably well with ancient near eastern idiomatic expressions people would use to describe their enemies and themselves. They would describe themselves as white and pure and their enemies as dark and loathsome, not necessarily as a racial thing like how we might be prone to interpret it today.
The curse of Ham idea also doesn't originate from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints like they implied. It predates the existence of the Church, and it actually looks like it came back into the Church from other Protestant groups, coupled with a misunderstanding of why Joseph told Zebedee Coltrin not to baptize slaves while he was a missionary. They completely leave out any nuance surrounding things like black people who actually did hold the priesthood during the time of Joseph, like Elijah Able and Kwaku Walker Lewis.
Joe Heschmeyer also presents the idea that the priesthood ban was never questioned until the issues they mention in Brazil came up, which is patently false, with Lorenzo Snow having had questions regarding it back in 1849. It's not like this sat right with every church member until suddenly they needed priesthood holders in Brazil so they changed it for convenience. That probably was an influencing factor in the end, but presenting it as the sole reason is very misleading.
Now, I'm not writing all this to say that the Church has never had issues on this subject, and there's plenty to look into and try to understand the reality of the Church's history with race relations. I just think they went about this in a wildly irresponsible way. Heck, Joseph Smith ran for president on a platform opposed to slavery, and was recently recognized as "Lincoln before Lincoln" by Rev. Dr. Lawrence Edward Carter Sr., at the unveiling of a painting of Joseph that's now hanging at Morehouse College.
IMO, these guys are clearly agenda driven to just smear the Church as much as possible in their review of this Godmakers clip.
Sorry this got long, but this is kind of a "I don't even have time to tell you how wrong you are... actually, it's gonna bug me if I don't." situation 😂

Are Mormons RACIST?
English

@Samuraijrussell @BradWitbeck I’m specifically arguing that the “Mormon racist doctrine” you’re crying about isn’t actually mormon at all, and stems from earlier Protestant and other denominations of Christianity. if you can’t dispute that, i win.
You love to tear down Joseph Smith until it comes to racism.
English

@0xcfbezel @BradWitbeck And? This is a classical deflection. The original post is about the LDS Church.
English

@Samuraijrussell @BradWitbeck so did literally almost every other American Church up until 1965-1970. The Curse of Ham/Cain didnt stem from mormon doctrine lol
the issue is you’re acting like it does
English

@0xcfbezel @BradWitbeck Please, I could provide countless statements and teachings from past Mormon prophets/apostles highlighting this simple fact you can’t accept, which is that the church did, in fact, teach racist doctrine for nearly 150 years until 1978.
English

@Samuraijrussell @BradWitbeck Yes, because Joseph Smith ordaining several black elders to the priesthood and running for president on abolishing slavery is completely, and utterly racist.
it’s like you didn’t even read the post. LOL
the “racist doctrine” is just old Ameri-Christian teachings
English

@BradWitbeck The church taught racist doctrine for almost 150 years until 1978.

@enduule @Stevie94215191 @Nadeshot can’t say it’s harder brother, maybe much less accessible… literally trying to compare completely and entirely different skill sets

It is truly incomprehensible how Tiger Woods doesn’t have a car with a driver on call, especially with his history. I love Tiger, he is truly the greatest golfer and the most dominant athlete to ever compete in sports. But holy shit brother. Actually insane.

Tiger Woods has been arrested for DUI. Unreal.

@viking112875 @RogerSeheult @Delta @SkyWestAirlines i think you’re confused, i wanted them to show proof so they could be exposed lol
English

@0xcfbezel @RogerSeheult @Delta @SkyWestAirlines I’m confused at why your so readily defending this when it was so blatant? Many people were on the flight and witnessed it. Are you a relation, or perhaps a friend of the CEO @SkyWestAirlines @Delta
English

Hey @Delta @SkyWestAirlines my daughter is on dl4279 tonight from SLC to SGU and right after boarding the pilot came on and said “my boss told me that we have to wait 40 min for a passenger before we can take off.”
That’s great that you can modify your operations based on the needs of your customers! I don’t know the circumstances but I’m sure you made the right decision. My question is when the rest of us have a similar situation can you direct us on how to communicate that to delta or sky west so that we can get the same great service?
Take your time. I’ll be in the cell phone lot waiting.
English

@RogerSeheult @Delta @SkyWestAirlines It was the CEO of sky west , Russell “ chip “ Childs. I lost my seat to his entitled daughter. This info needs to get out. @Delta @SkyWestAirlines

Imagine sending money to someone standing right next to you.
No internet.
No bank.
No network connection.
Just your phone.
Over Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi.
Your phone → their phone.
No surveillance rails.
No banking intermediaries.
No traceable payment network watching.
Now imagine those transactions later settling on a blockchain.
That’s the idea behind @knoxnetofficial
An offline-first privacy network where transactions happen locally between devices, then quietly settle on-chain later.
Meaning payments can work in:
Blackouts
Censored regions
Weak connectivity areas
Or simply when you want real discretion.
Think of it like cash 2.0.
But digital.
Private
Borderless.
And far harder to shut down.
Quietly one of the more interesting ideas being built right now on Ethereum from a privacy project POV
Will make a special thread in the coming days about it

@CaptMahonri @ldsabuse The LDS church is basically white supremacy in the form of a religion....

@Truth_matters20 why would anyone believe putting a snake on a stick would heal people lmao stupid believers
English

Mormons hate this fact, but it's true.
Joseph Smith put his face into a hat and claimed to have received divine revelation.
Why would ANYBODY believe that to be true?
Michael Suntribo ✝️@MichaelSuntribo
@Truth_matters20 Finding out that Joseph smith used the rock in a hat to translate the Book of Mormon was the first crack that lead me down the rabbit hole.

@Variety Taylor finally speaking truth after years of staying quiet. That takes courage when there’s kids involved and an ex threatening retaliation. Real conversation about abuse coming out of this mess. That statement hit different because it’s real.
English

Taylor Frankie Paul is speaking out following ABC’s announcement that they will not air Season 22 of "#TheBachelorette":
“Taylor is very grateful for ABC’s support as she prioritizes her family’s safety and security. After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm,” the statement from her spokesperson reads.
“There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives. Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation, and public shaming. She is currently exploring all of her options, seeking support, and preparing to own and share her story."

@RobBogdan @John_Stone_ @byzantinetx usually i just ask someone like you to point to where in the Bible it says the word “trinity” without having to make mental gymnastic conclusions and they regret their life choices :) byeeeeee!
English

@John_Stone_ @byzantinetx I love speaking with Mormons. I read them Psalm 81/82 (my favorite Psalm) dramatically and ask them "don't the gods get judged to death *like* men?"
They have no response and I think they regret their life choices :)
