Totally agree. And a world with laws is a way for the powerful to control the weak! Power to the people! Remove all those stupid laws! Seatbelt laws! Truancy laws! Down with the FDA! Now that I think aboutโ€ฆwhy do we even have a government? They want to control who can drive cars? And buy guns? Burn it all down. Itโ€™s anti-freedom. Great points Zack.

I donโ€™t want โ€œobjective, transparent regulatory standardsโ€ for AI models. I donโ€™t want AI to be regulated. A world where AI is regulated is a world where most people donโ€™t get access. Itโ€™s that simple.

Which, if you knew the space deeply, you might realize is a very good thing. The problem is not that somebody is trying to decide that level of intelligence for us. The problem is making sure that that group of people is the right group of people. Currently, itโ€™s a chaotic mix of the main industry heads, who are competitors, combined with some part of the government. It is not well formed yet, but this is the type of consortium that we should ideally pursue for this. You realize there is a group of people deciding what is safe for you to eat, right? Itโ€™s the same concept here. Itโ€™s just in early days.

If we strip away the headlines about Mythos 5, the story is brutally simple: someone, somewhere, is deciding what level of intelligence you and your company are allowed to access.

Claude Code is a very powerful tool on RE tasks. Looping it with IDA and the decompiler over MCP or idalib delivers very impressive results, especially in combination with dynamic workflows. /goal find and list all the crypto implementations [algo => address] /loop use decompile but verify all the findings with disasm

Claude Opus 4.8 is quite good at RE/VR tasks and can provide additional explainable context on the targets. This in itself is a significant time-saver for any REsearch work.

@ChaoticEclipse0 Out of curiosity, when you (or other researchers) discover a vuln, do you / are you expected or required to submit potential solution(s) to said vuln, or is MSRC simply a notification channel of its existence and they address the patch?

Everyone except me ? We are in fact still in court over this.
Microsoft Security Response Center@msftsecresponse

Over the past several days, we have been listening to the conversation around coordinated disclosure and the relationship between security researchers and vendors. We recognize that this relationship is both critical and, at times, fragile. We deeply value the security community, and will continue to take your feedback seriously. To be clear about our approach to legal matters, we have no intention to pursue action against individuals conducting or publishing their security research. When an individual breaks the law and engages in malicious activity causing real harm to our customers, we will work with law enforcement as appropriate. We recognize the work that goes into researching and submitting a vulnerability. We are committed to approaching every interaction with transparency, clear communication, and professionalism. We continue to believe strongly in Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure as the foundation for protecting customers and improving our products. Each year we process a high volume of vulnerability reports. That volume continues to grow and will continue with the rise of AI-enabled research. We acknowledge that some interactions have fallen short and are working to learn from them. Many of us have experience on both sides of this work, as researchers reporting vulnerabilities and as responders triaging and assessing them. That perspective informs how we approach this feedback and the importance we place on getting it right, particularly as the volume and complexity of research continues to grow. The security community plays a vital role in helping us protect customers. We are committed to maintaining a constructive and respectful relationship and growing together. We know that, given the nature of this work, there will at times be misunderstandings. We remain committed to engaging in good faith and to providing a respectful and professional experience for all researchers, regardless of past interactions.
