Execution fees are now live on Qubic ⚙️ Smart contracts no longer pay a flat cost for existence. They now pay for the actual computation they perform. 🧠 What changed: → Execution is measured in phases across 676 ticks  → Fees are determined by network consensus  → Contract reserves can be refilled in multiple ways  → Read-only functions remain free by design  This aligns cost with real work, makes efficiency measurable, and ties burn directly to utility 🔥 If contracts now pay for real work, how does that change what “efficient code” means?

Network Guardians are coming to Qubic. 🛡️ Running a full Computor requires serious hardware, and those requirements exist for a reason. Lowering them would mean sacrificing performance. But high performance shouldn’t come at the cost of participation. Network Guardians introduce bob nodes and core lite nodes: lighter-weight roles that expand who can contribute to the network, strengthen redundancy, and support decentralization, without compromising throughput. These nodes: → Are scored on uptime, synchronization, and data accuracy → Use Docker-based deployment for straightforward setup ⚙️ → Earn QU rewards for reliable participation 💠 Closed beta testing begins at the end of January. This is how Qubic scales participation without diluting performance.

Every smart contract execution on Qubic burns $QUBIC permanently. These are not fees routed to validators. They are not recycled into rewards. They are removed from circulation, forever. IPO auction bids are burned. Oracle query fees will be burned when live. Usage doesn’t inflate the system. It contracts it. The more the network is used, the scarcer the token becomes, by design, not by policy. This is what happens when economic pressure is embedded at the protocol level.

Why Qubic Can Be Feeless And Why Most Chains Never Will [>] Most blockchains don’t charge fees by choice. They charge fees because their architecture forces them to. Fees are not a feature. They’re damage control. --- [>] Blockchains are built around scarcity. Limited block space. Serialized execution. One producer at a time. When demand rises, users compete. Competition becomes a fee market. --- [>] Mempools turn transactions into bids. Block producers become auctioneers. Priority goes to whoever pays more. Fees end up doing three jobs: prevent spam pay validators ration block space Remove fees here and the system collapses. --- [>] Qubic never enters this trap. It doesn’t organize computation around blocks. There is no block space to fight over. Qubic runs on synchronized ticks. Same step. Same moment. Every Computor. --- [>] There is no proposer. No inclusion race. No priority bidding. A transaction either arrives before the next tick, or it waits for the following one. Time replaces auctions. --- [>] Spam behaves differently. In blockchains, spam increases work. In Qubic, work per tick is fixed. Each tick has: a bounded compute budget a deterministic execution path a fixed timing window Excess input is dropped. Not delayed. Not repriced. Not backlogged. --- [>] Computors aren’t paid per transaction. They earn from: epoch rewards UPoW performance ranking contract IPO distributions Their job is correctness, not monetizing congestion.
