Easter is the best holiday man 😊 Everyone is like, "He is risen!" and I want to be like, "Yes! He is literally risen." You do realize that, right? It's a historical fact. There's more evidence for the historical resurrection and life of Jesus after death than for pretty much anything in the history of history. If you can't believe in the resurrection of Jesus, the fact that he appeared to 500+ people after he was dead and that his 12 disciples all went to their deaths refusing to deny it, then you can’t believe anything in history! They were so scared and helpless after he died that they hid in a room and then all of a sudden they're willing to go to their violent deaths because they saw him face to face. So yeah, he IS risen. 😅🙏🏻

People who understand knows this passage was written because Paul the Apostle genuinely believed the Second Coming was actually very, very imminent….that it would happen within their lifetime…and that getting married was a relatively unimportant activity in light of that expectation. Paul was giving practical advice shaped by what he calls “the present distress.” His reasoning is simple…if the world as they knew it was about to end, then longterm commitments like marriage, family building, and social stability lose their urgency. Why invest heavily in a future that you believe is about to be radically interrupted by divine intervention… Even Jesus believed the second coming would happen in the lifetime of the disciples .. according to the authors of the gospel. The early Christian Movement was really a failed apocalyptic movement that had to be reinterpreted into a religion.
