Let me tell you about someone I met online last month.
Her name’s Amina. She lives in Nairobi, works part-time at a local shop, and spends her evenings on her phone not scrolling TikTok, but training AI.
Before you roll your eyes, I don’t mean “prompt engineering” or building some complicated ML model. I mean the kind of work most people don’t even realize has to happen for AI to function.
Tagging an image. Verifying if a translation makes sense. Sorting data so an algorithm knows what’s what.
