@BwvPolice @ProfPaulTaylor @DCCJimColwell Fantastic to hear that piece of work is moving forward, but has to be smart redaction that ideally can grow and learn as our needs change. Also needs to be a simple smooth process that ideally works with the various DEMS in use across Policing.

📃 Read the new Code of Practice for the Police National Computer and the Law Enforcement Data Service. We’ve written guidance so everyone who uses these systems understand their responsibilities, to make sure data is held and used ethically: college.police.uk/guidance/pnc-a…

@CM2408 I think we need to get better at transforming the information we currently provide into true knowledge, easy to access, scenario based examples that would answer most queries. I do wonder if combined services across forces could provide 7 day cover for urgent queries.

@CM2408 Probably an element of history as it has always been that way and to change would mean increased costs i.e. weekend working allowance. Most are not essential I would argue if we make sensible arrangements to cope with the needs of a 24/7 business.

@DurhamFedSec @CM2408 I know you are Phil and it has been seen and appreciated, the National Fed needs to stand up as well! Impressed with todays press and hopefully this is just the start!

@1118Ian @CM2408 Would it ever get voted through parliament, I don’t think so. I am certainly trying to get communication at a local level and I am regularly at stations and HQ. There is frustration at present, myself included. I’m a member as well pay, pensions and conditions effect me as well

@DurhamFedSec @CM2408 I suspect I know what the outcome will be should there be another ballot. I do hope the Fed can make a better show of getting the ballot out this time as I’m still waiting for the one from 2017! Pleasing to see you on here communicating with members! Hasn’t always been the case!

@1118Ian @CM2408 2017 the Fed balloted to see if members would go for industrial rights if they had the chance and the answer was no. Is it time to ask again? It’s looking as though that question needs to be asked again. The whole mechanism for pay needs change. We can’t just go cap in hand.

@DurhamFedSec @CM2408 So what’s the next step for the Fed? Whilst I appreciate something had to be done and walking away was probably the only option, where do we go now? No voice at the table and ignored by the Govt! Please tell me there is a plan b that doesn’t involve hoping for a change of govt?

@CM2408 Yes sadly the PRRB which is meant to be independent on pay is anything but, hence the withdrawal from it. We are massively undervalued and kicked around by all. Government, public, media etc. We need a pay review body that will allow us to negotiate and be independent

@ThePNLD Good news but can you not sort out single sign on for users? Would be interesting to compare usage before and after the changes? All I hear are complaints about having to use a password from force machines.

@jason_1733 So if we provide defibrillators in the public space to save lives, why not have these? Surely the premise is the same? Perhaps smaller units often seen to dispense Sanitary ware in a similar location?

Fantastic to see the second tranche of these devices going out! Cannot wait to see the rest out and operational! The Axon apps which accompany these also save time and mean the officers spend less time back at the station manually uploading and classifying material @axon_uk
Durham Constabulary@DurhamPolice

New kit is set to help officers spend more time on the beat 🙌 The new devices will allow officers to capture high quality evidential material whilst deployed and then carry out all the admin functions related to it without returning to the station. ➡️ bit.ly/3MFooTP

@PIStaker1829 @DurhamPolice @axon_us Our officers are authorised to conduct their interviews on these devices. Current legislation does not allow for the video recording of witness statements. CPS will accept more than 10 mins if it is proportional and necessary. @axon_uk

@CM2408 @Joanna__Hardy Nothing to do with the file prep teams and all to do with the NPCC and CPS agreement on the back of the AG’s guidelines - please don’t shoot the messengers they are there to help!

*Opens a new case* Oh good. I’m glad someone has taken the time to heavily redact my own client’s date of birth, his home address and his car registration from *all* of the witness statements because heaven knows what would happen if he were to find out those.

NEW Steve Hartshorn has been elected as the new Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales. @stevetherep from @metpoliceuk beat acting chair Che Donald and Brian Booth from West Yorkshire Police. But only 15,000 officers out of 130,000 voted in the poll.
