See Ps 19.12-13 below. We pray for forgiveness for the sins in our lives we don't see. We also pray that willful sins will not rule us. Notice being blameless is not the same as being sinless. I take it that if willful sins rule us that is equivalent to apostasy.

"Theological retrieval without doxology leaves us with dusty hands and hard hearts from sifting through the cobwebs of church history, but retrieval for doxology leads us to greater delight in God, as we travel the well-worn paths of old." - John Wayne Sweat Jr.

“If we could see one of our prayers after Christ Jesus has amended it, we should scarce know it again. He has such skill that even our good flowers grow fairer in his hand; we clumsily tie them into a bundle, but he arranges them into a [beautiful] bouquet. - Charles Spurgeon

Some temptation gives the believer a trip, and down he falls; but the wise Captain makes use of that very fall, for giving the devil, and his hosts, a greater foil than ever; for after that fall, the believer goes alone, with Peter, and weeps it out; and watches, and prays, and fights better than he did before. —Ralph Erskine, Works 5:409

A paraphrase of John 3:16, from John Owen: “‘God,’ — the Father, ‘so loved,’ — had such a peculiar, transcendent love, being an unchangeable purpose and act of his will concerning their salvation, towards ‘the world,’ — miserable, sinful, lost men of all sorts, not only Jews but Gentiles also, which he peculiarly loved, ‘that,’ — intending their salvation, as in the last words, for the praise of his glorious grace, ‘he gave,’ — he prepared a way to prevent their everlasting destruction, by appointing and sending ‘his only-begotten Son’ — to be an all-sufficient Saviour to all that look up unto him, ‘that whosoever believeth in him,’ — all believers whatsoever, and only they, ‘should not perish, but have everlasting life,’ — and so effectually be brought to the obtaining of those glorious things through him which the Lord in his free love had designed for them.”

@TexasPreacher I wonder if Papists are actually engaging in the very demons their system has put into people. It becomes a "Order out of chaos" where they instill the chaos, and presto their solution makes them "appear" as heroes. I put out the fire, praise me (ignore the fact I started it.)

I've been reading books on the demonic and exorcism from papists and non-papists. What has struck me so far is that Papist exorcists are just as pagan & occult as the demons they claim to drive out. You'll find them lugging garlic, chalk, salt, and candles to the battle, along with a bunch of made-up chants & mutterings, most of them to Mary. Makes you think that someone needs to cast the demons out of THEM! On the other hand, the Protestant way is to come with the Bible, fasting, & prayer in the mighty name of Jesus, who has all authority in heaven & on earth and who has spoiled principalities and powers through the blood of His cross. What need is there for your relics & superstition?
