The long division algorithm CAN be understandable and not just something to memorize. Here's how we can make sense of it.

"When you get to the game, everybody wants to win.  Everybody wants to play well.  It's what did you do to get to the game?  How did you prepare?  How did you practice?  What kinds of habits did you create?" Games are played on game day, but games are won in practice.

Would you be willing to push yourself to exhaustion when no one else is watching to achieve your goals? Mia Hamm is one of the best female soccer players in the history of the sport. Her legendary soccer coach, Anson Dorrance, has told an inspiring story about Mia’s thirst for greatness several times. He said one cold, late winter morning while driving to work, he saw Mia doing a grueling conditioning workout all by herself where she ran cone drills to exhaustion without a ball or teammates and coaches to push or celebrate her. Coach Dorrance secretly pulled over to watch her, and he said in between each sprint, he saw her bent over with sweat flying off her and hot air shooting from her lungs. He said he was so impressed with what he saw that when he got to work, Coach Anson scribbled a note for Mia that said: “The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching.” Coach Dorrance says, “The final measure of athletic greatness is not what you do in the training session with your peers and teammates; it’s basically what you do on your own.” Mia has said when chasing greatness, “No one is watching you. The accountability is your own.” You have to be disciplined and find creative ways to push yourself. Question(s) of the Day: Who do you want to be and what do you have to commit to doing to become that? Are you willing to do what it takes?

Players: There's never been an easier time to be an absolute dirtbag in the game than right now. Here are a few ways to stand out amongst the crowd that every player can do: ▪️Sprint on & off the field. 1st one on, 1st one off ▪️Run your best home to 1st time on every ball you hit ▪️Throw the ball with purpose when taking gbs in between innings ▪️Show your best pop times in between innings ▪️Stay up when you fail. Studs don't doubt ▪️Show up early & leave late ▪️Wear your uniform properly. Jersey always tucked in. Belt on. Hat on straight. The way the uni fits you matters. ▪️Win & lose with class. No poor sports & no shoving it into the opponents face when you win. ▪️Shake the umpire hands before & after the game & thank them for calling the game ▪️Be a great teammate. A selfless one. Pick others up when they're down. ▪️Be a leader regardless of how your day is going. It's easy to lead when things are going your way. Lead when it's your hardest day & you'll gain respect from everyone. Talent will get you in the door, but the intangibles will keep you there! 👊🏻

When saying “stay behind the ball” or “stay back” it doesn’t mean sit and spin. You do want to fire forward but when driving forward, you have to go up against a strong front side. Doing so will allow you to stay behind the ball to drive it.

It was a very late night but Kentucky quarterback Brock Vandagriff will still be at church this morning. “Obviously this is way past my bedtime, even on a normal night. It’ll be rough waking up for church, but we’ll be there.” 🔗 on3.com/teams/kentucky…

Hey #BBN, can we get some love for our two newest @AcadAllAmerica honorees, Mitch Daly and @emilien_pitre? A remarkable effort by both but Petey now is an All-American both on and off the field. Excelled academically in his 2nd language.

ORHS Track and Field came away with several qualifiers for the TSSAA State Track Meet today at the Section 1 Championship at HVA. It was an especially strong day for the middle distance group. Seven did what she does best: run fast. And Sophia had a great day in the shot. 👊
